Just wondering - Tax refund for Pool

All $1800 of mine will go into savings.... :p

(or I may put it into the market to see what happens... after all, that's the intention, right?)

Buy low and sell high, IMO.

Off topic a bit... At the Joss event Mike told us Canadian's about a form to fill out so we could get the taxed prize money back... or something like that. I guess you guys in the U.S are taxed on prize money... Can you claim your entry, gas, room, flight etc for events? I wondered if US players are considered self-employed and are able to deduct expenses I.e. Pool tabe at home as office/work space?

I have deducted expenses for playing pool for years now. It would be nice if one of these years I could claim more income than the expenses.

I will waiste my refund on gambling, hookers, and booze. Or should I say that I already did! Thats the American dream at its finest.

When I played in the APA national singles a few years ago, they sent me a W-2 showing the income I made. I used my trip and other pool related purchases that year to offset the income from that on my taxes.

I'm using mine to pay for the upcoming Predator school with Efren etc. Actually, I'd do it anyway, but nice to get a little "rebate" check to absorb the cost.

Thanks Mr. Bush!!! Actually, I'll wait to thank him until the check shows up at my front door... :)

I had to suffer through...

eight years of Bush to finally get to thank him for something.
Thanks to the rebate I've got the blessing to put a table in the house and I can't tell you how excited I am about the prospect.

Har, from the subject line, I thought this was going to be a thread about trying to get a tax deduction for playing pool - as if playing was a deductable item. :P

Do you mean that all of these expenses I have been deducting all these many years of attending pool tournaments all over the country ARE NOT LEGITIMATE EXPENSES?

JoeyA (I was going to say that I have never been "A") don't want to even print that word.
