Kamui Black S vs. Kamui Black SS...

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried both the Kamui Black Soft and Super Soft, and if so, can give me their opinion of them?

As far as feel goes, is the Super Soft a lot softer, or is it a slight difference?

Also, is there a big difference in performance???

LOL... Um, no they are not dropping the best tip on the market.

Kamui has "Re-Named" the BROWN tips, the "New Originals", but the Black is still around. I believe there is going to be a change in the coating, or formula for it, but they are not getting rid of the Blacks.

will buy the new ones, the black ones not hold perfect the chalk.
The SS is much better and NOT to soft.
 
Kamui is coming out with a new improved version of the black tips on August 15th. I've been playing with the new supersoft tip and it's remarkably different in hit, english control and there's even a difference in the sound of the hit, which I like a lot. I've also been using the new medium, and there's a huge difference between the two. In the time I've played with them they haven't changed consistency and I haven't had to mess with a tool on them at all. I've been punishing the supersoft with hours of masses and power draws. Don't let the term "super soft" fool you, it stays the same shape and doesn't mushroom. I actually switch between the two tips and they are both so amazing I can't make up my mind. I'm going to try the soft one, that might be right in the middle since I can't choose.
 
I personally play with Kamui Med Black, but I found out is too hard for me. I installed a lot of S and SS Black for players here and I have a good feedback. There is not a big difference between them. In my opinion SS plays more close to the original Moori Med and draws very easy. Someone here breaks and plays with SS and holds shape very well.
 
Today I worked on the tip and shape it more round than usual. It was like a new tip ! Very easy spin, and very precise. I was crushing the racks :) Hmmm, I may keep the Med ...

So I guess the better question, and one that will be hard to answer for a while is this:

How different in hit and feel are the new ones compared to the old ones? I mean if the old Kamui Black Medium was too hard, will the new ones be too hard as well???

I first played with the SS Black tip but thought it was to "springy". I went to a Black Soft tip and think it is alot better. I have no problem with holding chalk with the soft tip (I use Blue Diamond Chalk).

I likes me some Blue Diamond chalk, too!

I am having some (Old) Black Soft's put on my new Bobby Hunter cue. I think that will give me the answer I need, but it will be a few days before I get the shafts back. If these play nice, then I'll get some new Softs. If they are still a bit too hard, then it looks like the new Super Soft will be the ticket.

From what I've heard, I don't think there is as big a difference between the Super Soft and the Soft as there is between the Soft and the Medium. That could change a bit with the new tips though...:confused:
 
Been a while since i posted, but thought i'd chime in.

I had my 4th Kamui Black installed on my WD700 shaft (it was my 2nd SS). I have a SS on my OB-1 shaft that plays great! The one i have on my WD700 shaft has been very inconsistent. I have read in the past of people complaining that they get a lot of miscues out of the Kamui Blacks and i thought they were crazy, well it's happening for me now with the tip just put on the WD700! I use Blue Master chalk, the tip holds chalk well but i miscue like never before, I just don't get why. I've gotten out my Cue-Shark and worked the tip numerous times tapped it and all still no help. I am about to cut a chunk of the tip off and try that see what it does. I may have just gotten a bad tip but I hope what ever they do with the new version helps with others who have this problem. The 3 other Blacks on my 3 other shafts play awesome and never have given me any trouble, hold chalk great, hit great and keep their shape!

Were the tips put on by the same person or place, or did the person use a different type of glue this time?

The reason I ask is because the only time I've had trouble with these tips, and they happened to be the SS tips as well, is when they were put on with a liquid super glue. They are VERY finicky tips when it comes to the glue. The Loctite gel they recommend is the best, but the liquid super glues get absorbed into the sides very quickly and basically mess them up. I couldn't believe that the glue would make that much difference, but saw it for myself.

This is good to hear, as I have been wanting to try out the Kamui Black SS. I've liked the brown soft one well enough.
