This is just an observation of mine in regards to Kamui and the pros that use it.
Off the top of my head I have seen Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann, Big Ko, Little Ko, and Dennis Hatch, and Huiji See use Kamui 1.21 during tournament play.
All or some of them could be sponsored by Kamui and maybe use it for that reason.
However, I personally saw Ralf and Huiji kept their tip so close to the ferrule-extremely close with maybe a layer (if that) as all that was left in the height of the tip.
I asked Huiji what's with the super low tip, and he said he feels the hit better when it's that low, and he was playing a Kamui black soft tip.
With the less abrasive of Kamui chalk, my assumption was that these players would use Kamui, because they didn't want to lose shape of their tip during tournament play and have to reshape when there wasn't much leather left to work with.
There was an AZ user on here sometime ago that kept a photo log of his tip and after hundreds of shots and the constant chalking utilizing a more abrasive chalk, the tip wore down very fast. So much so, many users didn't believe it was the same tip. (I can't find a link to that thread, but it was extremely interesting)
The Kamui representative that did a question and answer on AZ a while back during a stream, also stated the chalk was also about tip preservation. And shaft preservation because of less abrasives.
