I have a lathe, and install tips. But I have never installed a kamui clear tip. A player from my pool hall bought a kamui clear and wants me to install it. Everywhere I look online, recommends a liquid super glue for these tips. I always use a gel super glue for my other tips. Will the gel super glue work fine, or should I get a liquid super glue?

Don't use the gel, it does not have the strength of the regular super glue.

The Gel will hold the tip on but again, it does not have the strength or longevity of regular.
Do your customers a big favor and switch, it will not cost much.

Funny (and true) story when the clear tips first came out:
Mika had one of the first clear tips available in NY, and he brings it to a local guy (who was a great player, but was notoriously suspect for his lathe work) for an install.
When the shaft is returned, it looks like any other plain Kamui black tip has been put on it.
Guy tells Mika: "The tip is ok, but it was hell sanding all that stupid glue off the top of it - I don't know what the heck Kamui is trying to sell nowadays..."

3 reasons:
1. To stop glue soaking in to the leather.
2. Provide a 100% flat surface for installation.
3. To set Kamui apart from other brands.
the same thing that makes that "non-stick" stuff stick to the frying pan.
