Kamui/ Sniper tip noises

Somewhat recently i bought a used cue with kamui MS preinstalled. The tip played great, except for the pinging sound it made.

I took the tip off, and since it was still quite meaty, I decided to put it on the house cue at the hall I work/play at. The ping was gone, and that one piece cue now plays friggin great.

Then I took a moori M (no spare kamui at hand), installed it on my personal cue, and the cue hasn't pinged yet.

It definitely wasn't the tip, nor my cue, that was pinging me crazy, it was most certainly poor tip installation/bad glue that was causing the noise.

I take a piece of cellophane tape and wrap it around the ferrule just along the edge before I cut the tip off. Any glue that comes out the side goes on the tape and I can pull it right off when I'm finished.

Blue painter's tape works well also. Maybe a little easier to remove. It's cheap enought that on my better shafts I may wrap the entire shaft to keep from getting glue on it (not a total wrap but rather two pieces running lengthwise down the shaft).

The first time I hit with a Sniper I almost shit a brick. It pinged like a piece of fine china. After a day or two, it sounded no different than any other tip. I think the removal of a couple of layers fixed the problem.
