Any players from the KC area on the boards? If so, where do you play?

And also if so, does anybody know of any reputable instructors in the area? Ones that offer face to face instruction?

K.C. lessons

I second the last post. David Matlock plays ALL games well ( his high run in 3c is like 17(wow) and he can explain things very clearly. Great guy who after all the years of grindin' it out still loves to play.

AndrewK1988...Too bad you didn't post earlier. I came through KC last night.

AndrewK1988, I suggest you send Scott a PM and schedule a time when he can provide lessons in Olathe, or any place. It will be one of the best investments you could make in your pool game.

In January 2010, Scott came to Oklahoma City and gave me a day long lesson. The 2009 falls session of the BCA league I finished around 20th. The 2010 spring session I finished 2nd.

Its not just the lessons, it takes a lot of practice.

Thanks for the responses fellas.

Scott, that's always me, a day late. I'll definitely give you a pm with my contact in case you ever come through again!

Steven, I definitely understand the practice and time on the felt is most important. I feel like I spend quite a bit of time shooting. My thing is I'm trying to take steps to take my game to the "next level". I want to make sure I am practicing the right things, and if there are things I need to work on, I'd rather find out sooner than later.

I'm a c- player on my very best day. I have run out in 8 ball a whopping 3 times from break/first shot. And, If you give me the 5 in 9 ball, you better look out 40% of the time. ;)

Sounds to me like Scott is exactly who you need. He is top shelf in my book. Scott will not improve your game. Scott will give you the tools so you can improve your game.

Andrew,
I play in K.C. Mostly up north. I play at Side Pockets and Brass Rail. There is a good 9 ball tournament this weekend where you could meet some people if you are new to the area. Duff, the owner of Side Pockets, is having a $15 tournament on Saturday. Think it starts at noon, maybe 1. I think last time he got 40 players. Its handicapped and lots of fun. Fifty cent Valley tables.
