Hi, Newguy! :)

Just wanted to say that the Corner Billiards' address is 11th Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues, Manhattan, New York 10003. Some folks may not know where Corner Billiards is. I know I didn't until I downloaded the Word-formatted registration form. The price for this workshop is extremely reasonable (IMO)!

I don't know Fran Crimi, but Karen Corr and Julie Kelly are wonderful players as well as good people. At every event I see them, both of them are always personable and friendly. Very popular pros, especially with the youngsters who see them on TV.

Picture of Karen Corr taken this past weekend at Joss tourney in Albany, NY!

This is pure torture for me. I knew about this workshop and then in the mail comes the invite to my husband's niece's baby shower for the very same day.

Fran, Karen, and Julie. Holey schlamoley.

So if I can't attend this workshop, my husband's attending the baby shower with me. I'm trading torture.

SJM - Please! Sneak a camcorder in there and take notes for me!

Barbara~~~rats, rats, and double rats!!

Sad to say, Barbara, that I, too, have obligations that day that make it impossible for me to check it out. I'm sure the gals will give all the lucky attendees their money's worth and then some.

Guess I'll just have to catch up with Karen and Julie in Vegas, as I always do.

Karen's got a big heart. She and I were on the same plane back home last year, just hours after she'd won the BCA Open. A waitress came up to me during the flight to inform me that a lady in first class had bought me a drink, which I was promptly served. I wondered who had bought me that drink. Karen came back to hang out with me for a short while later in the flight. Turns out she was the one who bought me the drink--- and just when I thought I had a secret admirer!

Okay, now it's Triple Rats!!!

Yeah, Julie and Karen are just about the nicest and funniest players you'd want to hang out with.

I'm sending a friend up there to the workshop. I had thought about who I'd send her to correct a problem she has and all three names had come up, so luckily, all three names will be there.

But I know she only has see "The One".

2 questions...

1) JAM - Were Karen and Julie playing in the Albany tournament or just hanging out?

2) SJM - Do you really expect us to believe your cockamamy story of Karen plying you with drinks? Everyone knows that Pro Pool players cannot afford to fly First Class ;-)

Julie Kelly and Karen Corr both competed at Joss Tour Stop No. 19 at the Golden Cue in Albany, NY, this past weekend.

Although they didn't make it to the second day of matches, both of them came and watched the tournament to its conclusion. Many spectators and fans received a beautiful 8-1/2-by-10 glossy photo, personally autographed.

There was a little boy about 8 or 9, I'd say, who was very enamored with Karen. She spent a good deal of time talking with the youngster, and he was beaming with excitement. When he left, he held on tightly to his photo of Karen, something he'll remember for quite some time I'm sure.

It's always a pleasure running into these two lady pros. I like listening to Julie's Irish brogue and stories from Ireland. Anybody who goes to this upcoming workshop will definitely have a great experience. :)

Hi AuntyDan,

Nice touch with the link to the thesaurus so we west coasters could look it up

Also, I bet since Karen flies so much she probably has tons of miles and can get $100 first class upgrades. So that's not the hard part to believe of SJM's story...the hard part to buy is that there was a waitress on the flight :p

Sorry SJM, you're usually so damn precise we have to make the most of these types of opportunities. :D

Cheers,
Regas

No problem, figured I should start doing that with the more idiosyncratic words in my vocabulary.

Ahh, good point. Perhaps what I should have said was "What kind of Pro Pool player ever buys anyone else a drink that isn't water?" ;-)

Good one, AD. Funny you mention it, but actually, Karen, Julie, and I have been on the same flight home from quite a few WPBA events over the years. Seems they're always in first class! Do you think they book first class just to avoid me?

Aunty Dan,

If I just received an $11,000 paycheck, I think I might splurge on a first class upgrade for a 6-hour long flight!

Barbara~~~would even splurge for a friend, too!

Just for saying that, Barbara, you deserve to sit in first class next time you fly to a pool-related event, even if it means bumping one of those Irish ladies back to coach!

LOL!! Are you paying for the upgrade?!

Sixpack, you've got me rolling in the aisles. Guess a female flight attendant wears many hats, one of which is that of a waitress. By the way, found out that stewardesses prefer to be called flight attendants when I served on a jury with one of them, so now I'm politically correct.
