I was under the impression that it is made from 10 pieces of maple, with a small ferrule(vague). Am I wrong?
 
almostgood, that's correct. the shaft is a 10 piece radially laminated shaft, with a short 3/8" ferrule of some proprietary material. 12.5mm diameter. never tested one myself, maybe they'll have some at SBE to try. i think the LD performance comes from the shorter ferrule and smaller tip diameter, so i expect the LD to be only moderate and not in the class of a pred or ob.

Thanks for the reply, wasn't sure about them, still not, might try one for the heck of it. I will post if I decide to.
