Keith a Shark?

Just watched your taped match with Jose Parica on BCN from the US Open. You sure are the talkative ball of energy. A lot of players would have given up after giving away two games like you did. But you just kept firing away.

Billy Incardona was commenting about all the talking you were doing (saying you were making up words as you went along) and even said it was unsettling for an opponent and intentional on your part. Surely he was not insinuating that you might be using it as a sharking technique, was he?

How about mentioning a few good, or bad, sharking techniques that you have come across over the years.

And how are you coming along with your book?

It was a pleasure to see your girl friend on TV too.

if a player is running a rack and every time he misses he gives his opponent the game without allowing him to shot ( get in stroke ), would you consider this sharking? I watched you do it over and over again in a local tournament in Seabrook, NH (1992ish). Seems liked it worked, because I watched several of your opponents play poorly in the later stages of a match allowing you to easily beat them and win the tournament. Sorry for the bash. I still feel you are great for AZBilliards and pool. And no, I wasn't one of your opponents, only a spectator.

Also, whatever happened to Dennis Hatch? I believe you was his road partner at this tournament.

Jake, you have to see Keith play a number of times, before you realize that it is all just part of his personality. Keith likes to talk to his opponent and the other people around him. Some may call it sharking and some may not, but it is always entertaining. :D
 
Rich, As a fan/spectator I enjoyed it. Only wished I could be there in person to listen to it all. Don't know what opponents may think though. I was only commenting on what Billy Incardona said about it. No doubt it can get into the opponent's mind.

I guess I've been called a lot worse. Jose is a dear friend of mine, and if it couldn't be me coming in second to Jeremy Jones at the Open, I sure was happy to see Jose make it to the winner's circle. I was pulling for him all the way! :)

Dennis Hatch

Hi Guys,

Dennis is currently back out on probation. For those of you unaware, Dennis' father Greg passed away at home in January. Dennis still has some legal problems ahead. Whether or not you personally accept Dennis with his problems, he is the greatest example of coulda, woulda, shoulda I'm aware of. He truely could have been one of the greatest players period. I've seen his 14.1, one hole and 9 ball up close and personal. Too bad...... :(

ya i still accept him and in my eyes he is still 1 of the best players out there today...he just needs 2 get his shit straight...i guess before his dad passed away he asked him 2 win the us open...so if dennis will every be able 2 play in that again i can see that happining

(*<~ I saw that match too, it was great. JAM sure is good at... ah, er, um, handing you your bottle of beer between turns. (and, she's attractive TOO)... you're a lucky man... imo
 
From what I hear Dennis was in St. Catharines a couple of weeks ago staying with Chris Orme . Have heard he is trying to get it together and get back into the swing of things.

ya i dont know the exact hall that they play in up there all i know is its on tue night and the owner of the local hall was backing him...local jerry howard went with them last time they went..he shotts pretty good....but as 4 Orme hows he shooting? does he play right up there with dennis?
 
I think he was playing at The Colour Of Money in Niagara Falls . Chris is playing well but I do not think he is at Dennis's speed . He did qualify to go to the worlds with Alex.

nice good luck 2 him...and as im sitting here thinking isint dennis not allowed over the border cause of his arrests? ohh well i hope 2 see him eventually playing in bigger tourneys again
 
There is a player by the name of Cole Dixon here in California and he used to clear the balls off the table whenever he missed a shot, not allowing his opponent to get into stroke. They outlawed that move in most of the tournaments because of that. Btw, he's an awesome player, or at least he was when I watched him. I haven't seen him in quite a while now.

Cole was one of my favorite players to watch, too, and he is one of my best friends in life. I have done that myself. Nobody in their right mind wants to watch their opponent run out while they're standing there helpless.

I can remember Cole playing at Billiard Palace in Bellflower with his long blond hair running around saying, "Dabbit Jones." We've had some great times together. He reminds me of Scotty Townsend a little bit, and all three of us have remained real good friends through the years.

Cole is living in Utah now, doing great I heard, and I'm looking forward to seeing him soon.

Thanks for the info Keith. He's quite a character! I walked into Tooth's place one morning at about 9:30 and Cole was playing some guy and empty bottles of beer were all over the place. Cole looked like he could barely stand up when it wasn't his shot but when it was his shot, and he got his cue on the table, his whole demeanor changed and all of a sudden he was the consumate pro. He was shooting lights out! :D
