Keith Josey & Kamui SS

I just received this beauty a week ago and after some play time I thought I would give a review.
I'll start by saying that I really like the cue! The fit, finish and over all craftsmanship are very impressive.

Specs: Butt 15.5oz. Shafts 4oz. Target weight requested 19.5oz. Nailed it!
Requested shaft diameter was 13mm and the both measure 13.19, a little bigger but I'm really liking it! I did request dark fancy forearm wood which I had to pay extra for but I was not disappointed. I did not specify balance point but its just a little over 18" from the butt end and the cue feels very nicely balanced.

The playability of the cue is fantastic, I don't know what it is about a full splice cue but man this thing is solid!
I decided to give the Kamui SS tips a try even though they are much more $$ then the Triangle tip that I normally use. With this tip I'm getting great control with a lot of spin. They definitely hold chalk better then the triangles and I like the softer hit. Are they worth the extra money? I"m not sure, the triangles get the job done but if you don't mind the cost they are a better tip.

Over all I would say Josey cues may represent the best "playability vs. cost" cue being built

Cost: $1060(2 shafts) Wait time: Just over 6 months

The only negative thing I have to say(and I hate to be negative) is that I requested a Mezz X-bumper be installed which I could have provided, I have the extension it fits in my bag and being short I do use it.
Keith blew me off on this with an excuse that he would need a special tapp that he could not get, Now I know thats bunk because I have tapped a cue butt my self for this bumper and have had another cue maker install one for me. I'm sure keith has his reasons for not wanting to do it, he may just not want a Mezz bumper on his cue and I can appreciate that! The point is he only needed to be honest, I did not push him on this as I felt he did not want to do it and I let it go.

And for the best part, The Pics:

I'm not a big turquoise fan, but it's a pretty cue none-the-less. Congrats!

Keith is very good at getting his full spliced cues to weigh out naturally...sans weight bolts. Because of the components he faithfully uses, he knows what impact, if any, they are going to play on the weight and balance points. I am guessing that he was not comfortable using the Mezz X bumper you were requesting for those reasons.

sweet

I ordered one about 3 months ago so the wait is killing me when I see these sweet cues . This cue looks great. I didn't get all the fancy inlay's and all on mine. I got the flare tips and a wrap . I also paid extra for better figured wood and when I seen this it made me real glad I did. Cause if it looks half as good as this blank I'll be tickled. Only problem is I still got a good little wait ahead of me. I know it'll be worth it though.

Silver,,, oh God yes!!!!!!!! I just got my Josie on Thursday. Bocote with curl points at the splice points. Hoppe butt ring with Bocote rings and brown phenolic cap and joint. Plays fantastic so far. The most solid cue I've ever used.

Not sure if the tap is the real reason or not... but I got the same answer when I asked him for the mezz bumper too. He did build a custom extension for me though (you take the bumper off and screw it in).
I still think the mezz system is more convenient and I am surprised something similar is not widely available for every bumper style.
I'll admit that I am also very surprised by how little I am using the extension or the bridge... I guess I play better position lately, and the cue has such nice balance that I can really stretch out.
