Kelly (Pea) Pool Strategy

I've been playing this game with a ten ball rack with five people per table. It's basically a rotation ring game except your objective is to sink your secret ball, not necessarily run the table. I was just wondering what strategies other people have that play this or similar kind of games and how your strategies change depending on the level of your opponents. There's certainly a luck factor since the objective of the game is different for everyone.

With 5 players we rack all 15 balls. We play with 10 balls if there are 2 or 3 players.
