Kersenbrock cue

I put this cue on the site last month. Had quite a bit of interest. I was connecting with a couple of people that had good interest. Due to a "weird" family situation, I was unable to continue the contacts. I try not to "shine anyone on" but family circumstances were a mess.
Now, things are cleared up and I am putting it up for sale, "for sure".

Dave made this for me back in '76/'77. Amaranth butt and forearm, 2 original shafts, an extra Kersenbrock shaft I picked up in Vegas years ago and I had Jerry Franklin make me a 12 mm snooker shaft back in 1991.
Cue weighs 19.25 with original shafts. I put photos on "the album" with a few views.
I have seen Kersenbrock's go from $3000 up to over $5000.
Not really sure what the current going rate would be right now but I would consider a legitimate "reasonable offer.

Let me know if you need help posting some pics :grin-square:

70's merrywidow. I just bought one and Dave is cleaning it up right now.
Curious, of the four shafts, it appears as if NONE of them match the collar from the butt. That could really kill your sale. Can you confirm this? Also, is everything straight together and apart?

I am a possible buyer, but need clarification first. Feel free to email me.

Do you have any documentation?

So no original shafts?
No shafts that match the butt?

Size and weight of each shaft?

For those Kersenbrocks that went for the amount you quoted above, I assume that they came with original matching shafts....

Kersenbrock more info

Dave designed this cue to match my old "Martin" cue.
This cue was deliberately made with the collars white on the butt and black on the shafts! The ones with the black collars ARE the originals. The one with the white collar, I believe was off of Dave's personal cue. I think he had three shafts for his cue back then.
The shaft with the black and red trim rings was made by Jerry Franklin back in 1991. It has a 12mm shaft.

The butt weighs 15.1 oz
The black collar shafts weigh 4.22 and 4.25 oz
The white collar shaft weighs 3.6 oz
and the 12mm Snooker shaft weighs 3.4 oz

Documentation > if Dave sees this cue I am sure HE will recognize it , and I am pretty sure Laurie Franklin, at SW, would also recognize it.

I'm sure they would recognize it. The problem of course is getting them to post on AZ.

If you want $3000-$5000 for a pool cue, you're going to have to try a little harder to sell it, including contacting Laurie or Dave to confirm that this is indeed a Kers, and then to confirm that the shafts are not supposed to match the butt and then supplying that information to the potential buyer.

Sorry, but very few people are going to take you word for it.

Good luck with your sale!

It's not a matter of taking his word. I can tell you the cue is legit already. The problem is the non-matching items, and awkward features like possibly skinny shafts or overall condition.

And no way David will verify this cue to anybody other than in person and by mouth. Same with Ed.

2 cues nearly identical to this cue have been posted for sale here in just the last few months. Both were LISTED for around $1,750 - $2,200, with original shafts that matched. At best, this is a frankenstein cue, with a couple extra shafts that will add no value what so ever. Might as well sell the extra shafts separately and keep the original stuff together.

I buy any Kersenbrocks that come my way, but I am very realistic about their value, and the money that may need to be put into them to bring them up to collectible standards.

Best,
