I was at a place once and they had some of that and some Birds Eye Ebony. I almost bought some, but already had spent enough money when I found it. It was a bit pricey too and the birds eyes weren't that easy to pick up. I imagine with finish, it would be near impossible. The striping would likely be a better option.

I'd like to try the birdseye. Who had it?
That would suck if the finish hides the character.

I had some with similar figure before. My pieces had a brown streak thruout. Near the border of the black and brown you could see some of the figure but, in the black you could not see it once the finish was on. Maybe you will get lucky and it will show up. Chris.
Photos don't show it as good as in person.

Usually disappears when you seal and and finish the cue. Will look just like a black piece of ebony.

My findings exactly. Once I was stoked that I had an ultra trick piece of curly ebony....just black after the clear.:(

Thanks for the info. I was leaning toward no inlays and letting the wood show, I think I'll add some color.

If the piece is still plenty oversize you could try some different techniques and report back.

It's .110" over, I'll experiment.
Any ideas would be great.
