Just got in from last nite at Kickshot,
RHN lured me over to that other state with the news
that Chris had just won the second Set from Tommy D.
and was going to play Monster John some friendly OnePocket.
By the time I appeared, having got unlost and petroled-up,
it was eleven-ish, Chris had promptly lost the first 4 games
of a 6 ahead set for 4 dimes, then won SEVEN in a row to be
3 games ahead. It began to look like he was going to string
the requisite 10 for a win. But at around 5 ahead<maybe 4>
Bartrum showed some sign of being human after all, and Monster
banked, drilled, cut, and generaly made every kind of pool shot
known to man except anything resembling a spot shot, to get
very much back in the match at, I believe, only 2 games down,
after a great nip and tuck battle.
Both these players are very impressive - the cue ball control
and judgement of speed was well beyond that of mere mortals.
CB, however was not to be denied. At the stroke of 5:30AM
a mere 12 hours after the onset of the day's play, Chris made
one more not-really-possible back cut to go 6 ahead.
Game, Set, Match - jellybeans.
ps - I got the impression Monster wanted to continue on, there may
be more action on Friday<which is now today>
Doug, the proprietor and genial host, expects extended action
for the forseeable...
