I know a thread or two has been done about his book, but i just finished reading it and wanted to throw my two cents in. The book, "Running the Rack", is a well written book by an exceptional Sports Illustrated writer. Although its hard to get a man's entire life to fit into about 240 pages, the most relative points of his childhood and growth are expressed to offer some insight into Danny, so that the reader may have a better understanding of who Kid Delicious really is and why he is that way. Most of the stories in the book are well narrarated, although they lack the colorful language that some authors use to help the reader feel more like they were there. I was suprised at the number of players who didnt mind their names being used (although most of the stories are well known and were spread by word of mouth, especially the ones that were beaten). The transition from chapter to chapter is somewhat choppy, but for those of us who love pool, the content more than makes up for it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who truly loves pool and some great road stories (and who of us doesn't love a good road story?). Thanks for taking the time to read my thread and play well.

I am about half way through the book myself. I like it just fine, so far. Should have it finished by weeks end!

I liked it also. It was a fun quick read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys pool hustlin stories...and who doesn't.
