Kids On Billiard Forums & Newsgroups

The only thing that you need to worry about is keeping your heart from imploding or exploding, and I don't think you're on a very good path.

Thank you for your concern, Billy. I'll certainly try to take better care of myself. Now, what say we get back to talking about 'pool' and leave personalities out of our posts. How about it ?
(I think I'll go back and 'delete' some of these posts)

Got a great IDEA. Why not just drop this intire thread?

Driver cares not what kind of language is used here.

The rest have made there views public also.

Just stop this thread. That should do it.

based on what i see of kids who take an early serious interest in pool, they can light a blue flame better than any adult i know. so if they're here, they probably think this is all tame stuff.

You're right, this coming from a "kid" (18 seems like a "kid" to me, I've acted the same since I was 16).

There will always be cussing, drinking, and smoking in poolhalls and I don't see how it should be any different on a pool forum. If somebody wants to cuss, let them, it only makes them look bad. If you have to say "fuck" every other word, I suggest you skip pool this weekend and invest in a dictionary to expand your vocabulary.

As far as professional pool vs. pro golf: when a sport is at a professional level, some things should be left behind. Like a user stated earlier about somebody saying MF over the mic at a tournament, it needs to stop if the sport is to go anywhere.

I find it very interesting that you've chosen to make your very first post on this particular thread when there are so many others that could hold more interest in a young dude your age. Are you sure you remember back that far to when you were 16? Hmmmmmmmmm............... We'll be sure to take your advice though. PM me if you want some advice on what to expect after you're 20.

Bluemarlin, the same should apply here, in professional or amature, sporting events, including pool-rooms.

Example, if a big companies executive reads it here, it could turn him off from being a sponser with our sport. So he dosen't just need to hear or read it to be turned off. His daughter, wife, son or grandchildren, could report this to him, and were down the tubes again, and have no chance. I would like to see our sport as clean as possible. Nothing wrong with that.

Does anyone out there think that Coca-Cola, Ford , GM, or any big time sponser would put up with bad language here or from one of there Pro's, that's on there payroll?

If they hear it here, will they be interested in sponsering anyone? Don't think so.

Image, means everything.............

The bad language you don't hear at baseball, football, basketball games or tennis matches on TV. None of the televised games and sponsers, along with there heads of state, put up with it, so why should we? They have sponsership lined up for years to come..

Why don't we?

Reason is, because some say it's OK to cuss here and there, and no children will hear it, because they don't get on line on AZ. What stupid statement that was. I guess he's got esp. Please....

If we stay in the gutter, we will do just that, stay in the gutter.

Cleaning it up, takes little effort.

It's called respect for others.

In the past, I have done more than my share, but will never again.

statement above

Sorry, for got to add this above.

Not all will agree with my statement above, and that's ok. The language won't hurt some folks and there incomes.

However for those of us who depend on pool for a living, it will affect us.

Big sponsership, means maybe a big tournament might come to your town. This will generate lots of dough for the towns people, and you get to see some real good playing.

Just a thought.

And hopefully this is the last thought you have on the subject. Why don't you just shut up and drop it alreadly. Weren't you the one that proposed not responding to this thread a little while back. And here comes your crotchety, cantankerous, clueless mouth back on here over and over with one of your shills making their first post on a billiard forum in their entire life. Go to sleep already you old codger. (not one swear word in this entire thread except for bluemarlin, an 18 year old who is now your best friend who did in fact write out in it's entirety the f-word. Guess you missed that one, huh) All of this wisdom coming from you, one of the most swearing and flame war vets on hear. Gimme a break!!!

I'm sorry if I pissed you off sir, I didn't mean to. I guess I could've done well with saying "the f-word," but I was trying to get a point across. What I said I still stand by though, and mean it.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, and I don't care who is right or wrong.

It's way past time for this entire thread to either disappear or at least be moved to the
"Non Pool Related" section. This is not about pool, it is now about personalities.

If we all ignore it, maybe it will die from boredom... Hopefully !!!

Driver, a few points you should look at.

First off, you defended bernie and his cussing with your thread, when many complained..

Many have disagreed with you, bernie and 2 or 3 others.

The majority here agree, this is no place for that.

Next you have kept this thread moving, not me. I simply responded, because it was still going by you sir...

Your name calling is out of line, and very silly for an adult.

Old codger, crotchety, cantankerous, clueless mouth.

How big of you, driver. And just think, your an adult.

Just read above what you have written above. Does not sound adult to me....

You say shut up. Perhaps, you should practics what you preach.

Wisdom, yes i have been guilty of swearing and have not hidden from that fact. I also stated here on this board, that I would no longer use bad words.

ANSWERING AND POSTING,

I was making a point about how I see pool and it's future. nothing more, nothing less. Nothing wrong with that.

No sir, i did not miss the f-word being spelled out, by bluemarlin.

Friend, I do hope bluemarlin will become a friend.

I also wish we become friends, driver.

BLUEMARLIN, YOU DID NOT PO, ME, I AM SORRY IF YOU TOOK MY MESSAGE THE WRONG WAY.

Sharring my opinion,

Again, this is not the place for cussing, there are children and grandmothers, who visit this forum. There are some who visit this forum.

thank you

It is up to the moderator of the site to decide what is appropriate and what is not. I am a moderator at the busiest cigar internet site on the web and I delete posts all the time that are inappropriate. The owners of the site have decided that foul language is something they don't want to see, so I simply delete those posts.

Mike is the owner of the site so he should decide if foul language is something he wants on the site, not the users.

I understand what your saying, we all have our opinions. By your writtings, I assume you think it's ok, no matter who tunes in. It's been ask several times by me, yet no one answers, the question.????????
Would you want your daughter, mother, wife or whoever, be subject to this kind of talk when they visit a forum, no matter who owns it?

None of it's nessesary. Maybe Mike needs to voice his opinion? He for sure, needs to moderate more than he does, in my opinion. He's has said in the past, for others to watch there language. I guess this ones an over-site?

No matter, it's not nessesary.

Blud, I personally wouldn't want my ten year old daughter to see vulgar language on this forum. I think people can express their views and opinions without the use of foul language, but this isn't my site and I don't make the rules so it is up to Mike to decide how the rest of the pool world views his web site.

Good valid points, I understand sir. It's just ashame it's not looked at closer. When we visit here and it continues, I feel it's ok for me to speak up. many feel the same as i...This has been a good forum. It could be better if it were watched closer, in my opinion.

good night all.

I don't see why it's such a big deal anyways....most kids learn to cuss during pre-puberty, around that age is when it's "cool" to start swearing. And they do say EVERYTHING. I heard a 4th grader once say something like this: "Shit, that was the shittiest shit that ever shitted a shit". I couldn't help but laugh, the kid said it jokingly, I enticed him by laughing. I got a dirty look by another adult standing nearby. When the kid saw me laughing, he laughed too. I guess the right thing to have done would be to scold the kid right? After all, he did say a *suspensful music* BAD WORD.

LOL...You didn't piss ME off. Your using it to get your point across is exactly the same reason we use it at times, not only to get the point across, but to get through the double thick skulls of some of the boneheads on here. We have to use it as a jack hammer so to speak. However, due to the fact that the ones griping about it didn't say anything because you, in your same post, talked against profanity in the professional arena, they, swathed in all of their hypocrisy and sudden puritanical viewpoints in order to control others, danced away in their goody-little-two-shoes listenting to their new Shirley Temple CD playing "On the Good Ship Lollipop". Leonard Bludworth has contracted that old age disease that sometimes occurs, called "limp wrist" and his impulses toward controlling others toward his stance just overwhelms him at times. However, I'm not going to overlook it or put up with his rantings.

I appreciate your coming on here, but at 18 you must have better things to do than argue with geezers. Let me be the first to suggest a good poon reconnaissance mission.

Who believes Bluemarlin, a first-time poster, is 18, "sir"?

Drivermaker, I have read your posts with interest and find some of your remarks offensive and abrasive to a few targeted folks. How dare you insult Leonard Blueworth, one of the most celebrated cue arists in this country, and maybe the world, with your twisted comments! You can take a swing at me now, but I most likely will not recipricate. I agree with the negative impact of profanity on a public pool forum, for what it's worth, but I deem your posts, Drivermaker, just as repulsive, if not worse. :(

1. The total number of members here total over 1,000. There is NO majority
of 500 or more that agree to a zero profanity forum. This is a forum for
adult hard core poolplayers that really love the game, and I don't think a
majority of players mind the occasional cuss word or the potential for it in
an all out flame war. They can find it either humorous and entertaining
and read it, or they can choose to ignore it.
Everyone always has an option and isn't forced to open a thread. The
majority that you keep referring to is a group of about 6 or so with YOU
heading the pack and it's not even the issue. Yobagua was the only one
smart enough to call me on the issue and he's right. I started this thread
to show the absurdity of the whole issue because it isn't the true
underlying issue.

2. That was not out of line because that is EXACTLY the way you sound and
act.

3. Sounds very adult to me...not one cuss word in it (should be to you liking
but I can see that you're never satisfied. Always trying to broaden your
control, huh)

4. I just wanted to leave that up there for the record. How about all the
times you DID do it...weren't you concerned about all of the little children
grandma's and corporate sponsors then? Can you spell....hypocrite, liar,
and control freak?

5. The future of pool doesn't hinge on swearing in the rooms or on forums.
Maybe smoking or gambling has more of an effect than that, and I'll bet on
both.

6. I'm a reasonable man...O.K...but only if you make that same offer to
Bernie. As one of the most enlightened individuals who have ever walked
this Earth once said, "Can't we all just get along"?! Rodney King

7. No Blud....once again...there are no grandmothers and children on this
forum. This is either showing senility, stupidity, and further hard
headedness. Even your closest allies can't possibly believe this and wish
that you'd just not keep making yourself look so dumb.

I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WAS DONE.... Come on guys we all made our points and you can all do as you please. Agree or not we're all in this thing together. One big {mostly } happy pool playing family. I'm going to start a new thread about pool and if all you guys do that too, this thread will disappear into the pages of history. Sam
