Then I guess you would get really p-o'd if I posted pics of my weapon and its pretty JJ case.

Barbara~~~doesn't play fair some times... :D

Who cares what Scott says, I wanna see and hear about it. It may induce thoughts of trying to knock off the Federal Reserve but I'll deal with that.

P.S. Scott, how are you at planning elaborate heists?! There's got to be a way that together we can corner the market on boti's, bushka's, Hercek's, et al.

That pic is good, but you really need to see that cue in person.

Barbara

Thank you Barbara. Coming from someone that plays with a Szamboti, that is indeed a compliment :D

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I play with my Scruggs, a nice 4-pointer with 5 veneers. 3/8-10 Acme thread which has the same idea of having more contact area like radial pin. Pig skin leather wrap which feels very nice and sticky and suits to my light grip better than Irish linen wrap. The hit is quite stiff and firm, yet lively, despite the 12,5 mm tip size. I think the nice hit comes from the ivory ferrules but mostly because of the quality shafts and the joint type. This cue hits like a train, long shots are easy to make and the cue is not too stiff to make the cueball spin without any extra effort. The best cue I've ever hit with.

Type of Cue

what kind of cue do you guys (or girls) use and why? everyone knows what I use...I'm just curious. just wondering how some others play.
Skip Weston, four point, ebony into birdseye, four veneers, ebony, purple heart, perobarosa, maple, Hoppe style butt, 5/16 x 14 steel joint, 13.25mm shafts, LBM ferrules, Triangle tips, 19.5oz, white with black speck linen wrap. Very "old school", classic looking cue with a very firm hit. Skip's taper, although stiff, still allows you to move the ball around very well. Just have to know how to stroke it!

I play with a plain no nonsense cuetec. (picture is in these forums somewhere under a cuetec thread)

The Black Boar i used to play with as well as the other Black Boars i have retired can be seen in the Cue Gallery.

I play with a BCM, nothing fancy 4 points of snake wood into birdseye maple, black and white spec irish linen wrap. Ebony butt. ( It's on bcmcue.com in the gallery). It's 59-1/2" long, play with moori med tip. Sent him a predator blank so he could put the joint in and match the rings. Hit is firm but can feel the CB.

May I ask why you don't play with your Black Boars anymore?

BTW, they're very, very nice!

Hey Barb.
I just had too many other things to do. (school, girl, family)
I had stopped travelling around to tournaments and such, so there really wasn't a need to play with it anymore cause i wasn't playing the high level competition that i used to.
At the time, i was not playing a lot of pool, and was constantly forgetting my cue in the car in the summer. So seeing as i didn't want to destroy it, and since i really wasn't putting in a lot of time on the table, i just stuck them in the closet, and opted to play with a old cuetec that i've always played well with. Which i could cook or freeze in the car, and basically beat the daylights out of, without it affecting the cue.

There is also something very liberating about not worrying if i'm dinging my cue, or if it gets scratched on the metal of the pool table or whatever. I can also now walk into a room during the summer, and leave the cue in the car, and go get it only if i find a game, instead of HAVING to bring it in, and lug it around everywhere just so it won't overheat.

Those reasons, plus the fact of Black Boar not really making cues for individuals anymore, and doing his work strickly for Lucky. At this point, i'd rather just let them ripen up a bit, seeing as they are pretty rare nowadays.

If i ever take pool seriously again, i'm sure that i will whip out the old faithful, but right now, i've got too many other things on my plate.

Maybe he prefers the hit of a Cuetec more ! :p

Well, Black Boars are a very stiff hitting cues, just by how they are constructed.
I put Elkmasters on every one, to soften them up.

The cuetec i have, is ALSO a stiff hitting cue (maybe due to it being an inch shorter) and i use an elkmaster on it as well, so there are similarities, but i definitley play better with the BB's.
There is no comparison. The BB's play WAAAY better then the cuetec.

Yep, I know. My friend has a BB cue. And a couple of more friends have Cuetecs :) The part I don't like about the Cuetec that it seems to be very wobbly near the joint area and to me it feels very weird and different than a regular cue. Couldn't play with a Cuetec... But as your story tells, Cuetec is a good cue for keeping anywhere without the trouble of losing or damaging it unlike with Black Boars.

I don't like the way Cuetec production cues play, like i like the way THIS cuetec plays.
It was originally a house cue,(sold as a 1 piece) which i broke open to expose the joint pin. (which was sealed with cement)
I then used it as a 2 piece cue from then on. So it definitely doesn't hit like the standard cuetecs that i have hit with. Subsequently, cuetec changed the way they make their house cues, and instead of 2 pieces of fiberglass coated wood joined by a pin and cement, it became 2 pieces of wood, joined by a pin and cement, covered by 1 single piece of fiberglass. So now you had to score the joint before you could break it apart.
The pin in mine, is a standard cuetec pin and i can use any cuetec shaft, but the pin they put in the other newer generation house cues was this pin that every engineer i know, has never seen before. It is a total piece of crap pin by all standards.
