I notice most states have 1 KIng. Why is there 2 for Arizona? Is there a King for each rating? And....apparently to challenge I need about 200 posts to qualify.

We just did our own little challenge match making it the King of your rating, you can play whomever your rated for the title, the list could go on and on as we have a bunch of members from each rating.I am King of The 8's and I am 2-0 and will play again soon.I would like to see a match with 2 9 rated and 10 rated players so we have a King of those ratings, any challengers? :smile:tucson9ball said:I notice most states have 1 KIng. I understand the ratings stuff. But in other states there isn't a King for each rating. I was curious why we have King of the 7's, 8's, 9's. Isn't this for bragging rights of the state or area? I don't think there should be a rating for this. I mean seriously, we all know who the best players in the state are already. Most of them don't post here, so these challenges are just for bragginng rights on this forum. Anyway, I was just curious, why we are the only state with more than 1 King?Fast Lenny said:We just did our own little challenge match making it the King of your rating, you can play whomever your rated for the title, the list could go on and on as we have a bunch of members from each rating.I am King of The 8's and I am 2-0 and will play again soon.I would like to see a match with 2 9 rated and 10 rated players so we have a King of those ratings, any challengers?
Because we have a rating system, "welcome to Arizona, what are you rated?" How many times have you heard that line.tucson9ball said:I understand the ratings stuff. Exactly and to be honest I know I cant beat anyone 10 and above so I will try and beat all the ones I am rated even with. This is just something all of us AZ guys are doing,I dont care what the other guys are doing around the country.I would like to see some 9s and 10s do this because it could get interesting,no one wants to see a 10-1 like Dennis torture me in a shootout format,it would not be close and people dont want to watch a blowout. :wink:Prince said:Because we have a rating system, "welcome to Arizona, what are you rated?" I agree and we need to get a match under way for King of the 9s,so would you like to step up Ken and play someone?BRKNRUN said:Its good to be King!!!
Seriously it appears you might be taking all this too seriously... I think most of it was just freindly bantering....mostly just for the heck of it...and perhaps a Baconator....of course there will also end up being some decent grudge type or good $$ matches that may also develope from this...It has to start somewhere.
It is also a way to get some of the lower rated players (non top 5 ranked) some exposure (aka 15 minutes of fame) and generate some excitement for them to practice and get them some experience under pressure (in front of the world so to speak)
Has not Scott, Jimmy,Mitch, Dennis,(insert #5 here) had enough exposure already?
It's a good way to get the posters on here matched up with someone their speed and see how they fair. The King of their rating is just a little sweetener but it is really about challenge matches that will be nail biters hopefully between 2 even players, just good action.I dont know who wants to play next but the only thing you have to do it post that you want to play so and so and make a game. :smile:stuckart said:Arizona probably has the most people on this forum, mainly because what AZBilliards started out as. And when Lenny streams events I think people like to sweat the action and see more even match-ups. It just makes for better (TV).
How many challenge matches would you see if the current King was a 10-1 rated player in the state? I know there would be a few challengers that qualify, but most of the 9's, 8's and 7's would probably just shy away.
I'm promoting even challenge matches on azpoolscene.com right now. Check out the current ones and if you want to challenge someone for the title, let's hear it.

I would like to see the matchup, what are the stakes and the games, you pick a game,he picks a game and then you have a neutral game, shootout style. It would be nice to get a King of the 9s to get it going.I would like to see two 10s play if any on here want to match up and also 10-1s as I know there are not many on here but it would be some great pool played. :thumbup:BRKNRUN said:I think the question really is.....What 9 wants to play me...
I will play breaknrun....
On paper I am probably supposed to lose, but I will give it a go since I belive he is considered to be the top "9" around town...
I am sure I would get totured at banks so we would probably have to throw that and/or 1-pocket out (since I don't really play them)
If this happens, I'll be rooting for Ray. I don't want to see no avatar under his name like, " lioness queen of AZ ".Jimmy M. said:Funny you should mention that. There's a video floating around on youtube giving Scott some exposure.
Instead of having "King of AZ" challenges, you guys should have "Queen of AZ" challenges, where the loser has to dress like a drag queen. It'll make people try hard, at least.
I don't know if Ray will look good in drag though.
