C.J.'s focus is spread a little wider than Shane's right now, that is for sure. One thing I will say though is I don't see Shane outlasting him if they ever agreed on a game. C.J. has heart and stamina that is unreal and, no knock on Shane, but I don't think he can match it.
I've never been to the DCC tournament....well, there was this one time that I came and gambled with a young guy named Shane......turned out uneventful.
The last time I played the "10 Ball Ghost" I gave up 7/5 on the money and beat it "10 Ahead" in 45 minutes.......it's actually easier on the 10' table, so I'll save you some money if you're actually serious.![]()
uhhmmmmm....
CJ tried making a comeback several years ago and got blasted by John Schmidt playing 9 or 10 ball if I recall. The only way CJ stands a chance with SVB is if CJ is breaking in a race to 1.
Outside of that the %'s lean toward Shane. CJ can't win playing even if it was a race to a million...

FWIW CJ has made it very deep in several tough fields this year. Not saying he is playing world class speed but he is closer than you give him credit for.
Make an even game that tests their heart and stamina and I'm betting C.J. comes out on top.
The game could even give Shane a slight edge imo and I'd still bet on C.J.'s determination to pull him through in the long run.
What is an even game with Shane?
Let's figure it out.
Forget about the break.
Offensively and Defensively how many balls better does today's Shane play over Today's C.J.? (again not factoring in the break)
Sure you can forget about the break. How much better is Shane after the break? Are you afraid to answer? This is a hypothetical game of course...
You can not forget about the break. When 2 players gamble or play in any tournament they don't forget about the break.
I have only seen a designated breaker utilized in gambling matches a few times for 10 ball.
But ok, since SVB's 10 ball break is undeniably that good lets switch to 9 ball that even's out the breaking ability.
For players at that level ball spots are rarely given. So, games on the wire would be the most feasible way for Shane to spot CJ.
In a race to 100, how many games do you think CJ would need to win? What do you think the line would be here in an even race to 100 with no games on the wire? How many people would give 20 games here to get a bet? How many would give up money odds to get a bet?
IMO, the game is so far out of line it would be almost embarassing for CJ to play Shane with the weight he would need to win. But I like trying to figure it out though...
Gary
Im not slamming CJ or discrediting him or his game...
What tourney's? finish? who all played?

He finished 4th in the Side Pockets tournament just won by Johnny Archer. Hennessee knocked him out in quarter-final. There is an article about it on the az home page. In Vivian's tournament he finished 3rd behind Rob Saez and Joey Grey. I don't know who he actually beat but there were other strong US players in those tournaments.
LOL...no, I'm not afraid to answer!
Shane is considerably better than CJ after the break. Maybe a couple balls any way as I'm not exactly sure as I've not seen CJ play in a long time. Do I think CJ is a pushover? absolutely not! But do I think he's even in the same league as SVB, Dennis Orcullo, Earl, Alex, Francisco, or other top players? lol...no, I won't give him that pass either as you are insinuating.
Obviously, you feel CJ's after break game is comparable to Shane and the rest of the world. Is that a safe assumption?
With that said, you are also saying if CJ's break was better he would be finishing high in big events?
Look, CJ's a great player as I have said but he's not in the same league as Shane no matter how much heart he has.
And I'm sure CJ is glad to know you would bet on him to win against Shane in a long match where the break is not a factor.
So, what is the even game in your opinion?
Just seeing how we would match up if we were staking it.
I'd agree to two balls. The break would need to be equalized. I'd agree to mandatory pushout after every break, that would not give C.J. an edge in your mind would it?
If we agreed on those two items we'd have a game.
I would agree to those terms.
And max the bet!
It took Rodney Morris HOURS to beat the 10 ball ghost on a Diamond 10 fter. Sorry bud but I doubt you are anywhere close to Rodney's speed right now in your career.
Maybe you can show up and prove us wrong. I would think most are thinking the same as I am about you beating the ghost. If so, you take off an entire room playing that game.
You could solidify your legendary status.
No disrespect intended either Mr. Wiley. But I am not sure you realize how tough a Diamond 10 fter plays.
$200 a game play until someone quits a loser. min. $3000![]()
I played the Diamond 10' table tournament in Tunica and I'll admit I was playing poorly and over-weight (too many late night Chinese meals) However, the tables do play soft and without question easier than the one I had at CJ's Billiard Palace.
Beating the 10 Ball ghost on a 10' table is easy for me, and I'm not sure why. In Atlanta I played the ghost on "JAWS" (a super tight table) and ran 27 racks in a row......can Rodney Morris do that? I admit that was done with no money on the line, although I did play Dave Favor one time for $400 a game and ran 19 racks in a row.....he lives here and can certainly testify to that fact.
I have the utmost respect for Rodney as a man and a player, however, I think he'll agree that our pool games are very, very close. I'm not able to compete as well against players like Shane right now, but that's simply from not being in that situation.......and quite simply "it's like riding a bike"
I appreciate your criticism and wish to play you sometime to see how you perform. 'My Game Will Be Your Teacher'
