Keith, would you share with us what you desire in a pool cue?
I have read you sand down the shaft until it is quite thin.
How about some thoughts on the cue of your dreams and how you would want it to preform.

You know how us "wantabee like the great ones" are so equipment focused.

Chokenstroke, I've always liked a skinny butt, the forward balance in the shaft, about 20.5 ounces, and nickel tips. To me, the most important thing is the balance in the cue and the solid-ness of the hits.

I'm still trying to find that in my cue. I haven't been able to locate the right shaft, but those things that I mentioned are the most important to me in a cue stick.

It doesn't matter if the cue-stick costs a hundred. If that cue-stick hits better than that cue-stick that costs 2,000, I would rather have the cue-stick that cost a hundred.

When one is able to learn all the various hits as well as the different "feels," nature will soon take its course faster than you think. When it happens, you'll know it, and it is a great feeling.

Hey Keith!

Speaking of cues, why don't you give John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues a call. He does wonders with cues and shafts both. His number is 1-918-381-9364. Tell him Doug told you to call and he could possibly fix you up with something that feels good to you. Also, I'll be at the US Open this year with one or more of his cues, and I'll let you test drive one then.

Doug Talbot :D
