Why does it seem the more tournament money I win the faster I spend it on just living alone?

Maybe I need to find someone who I can split expenses with but everyone I run into seems to have a job or some other responsibility is holding them back from travelling.

It has been my experience that single people living alone usually are in a "ME" state of thinking. They tend to think in terms of 'self' and 'me' rather than 'us' or 'all'.

Holding them back is just words. It could well be that they decide what is more important to them that makes them decide to keep it "local" when playing in tournaments.

Or maybe you are the type of person that they do not wish to share expenses.

The only real expenses we would split is gasoline and motel, and unless two people disagree on where to go then I see no reason why someone would have a hard time seeing the benefit of cutting those 2 expenses in half.

Do you share the losers? (Some roadies like NY Blackie didn't believe in sharing the losers, fo shizzle)

Maybe you could do like some of the players do (if you are good enough) and get steered in each locale by a local steer horse. Steerhorses generally want their "horse"/you to be able to beat most of the locals. Do you have that ability or do you slip into the tournaments and make your way with them, primarily.

I would not expect to split losses.
I would only split wins if it was both ways pre-agreed.
And if my bankroll exceeded my partners, and he had a game we both liked I would have no problem staking him.

My point is that it is a lot more than just sharing the 2 expenses. Most players/people need to feel comfortable with the person they are sharing the expenses.

If you would just charge a certain amount for transportation, maybe you could make enough to pay for the room.

I took a nap at the Great Southern Billiard Tour Championship at teh end of last year just like in your Avatar. lol

I have my own '07 vehicle with decent gas mileage.
I think I know why some would be uncomfortable, they may be scared to go broke. Perhaps they do not trust their own personal game or mine or both. I am still learning and people that don't know me have no idea what I can or cannot do. Maybe people think when I win local open tournaments with 30 people I am just getting lucky since they are usually short races.

Anyway I have faith in myself or I wouldnt be trying to make a living playing pool. But I also know I have much to learn before I can match up with people who have a reputation of being good at pool.

There's your first mistake! There are plenty of people that play better and match up better than you and they can't do it in the long run.

You are right, there are people with more knowledge and more consistency than I currently have. But my determination and desire to learn and improve is strong, and my sense of adventure has brought me several places where I have learned many lessons and sometimes have made hefty scores.

It is not a secure living not even if you go pro unless you are a top pro. But with every score, and each new thing learned, my courage grows and the uncertainty of the places I can go where no one knows who I am has such a magnetic pull on me.
