Korr beats Ko 1st Round

LOL This is the Noob comment of year. Darren cannot finish in top 48 to cash
Satori, this newbie member who just joined this month with 100+ posts just knocked your boy , Darren. Can you please explain to him that there are Peaks and Valleys? (No, not peaks and valleys of sexual or female cycles)
Heck , even Darren may be insulted and post if he is free :D

i can't even comment - please come pick me up off of the floor

I have always said the addition of women into the US Open 9 Ball was a mistake. You
don't have women competing with men in Professional Golf, Professional Bowling and
all of your TV sports. You want a circus atmosphere in pool you got it here and that is
just 1 more reason pool in the US is a joke!

LOL. you call that "circus atmosphere"? you should visit the Philippines so you have an idea what real "circus pool" is. :D
In my opinion, when it comes to pool, women are more patient. They are more decisive on whether to be offensive or defensive. Also, dont compare it with bowling or golf. You should compare it with chess, like when polgar beat Karpov, Calrsen, Kasparov and all the other male world champs.

I'm happy for her. She's been in the game a long time, paid her dues, played well. Congrats.

Peaks and valleys without bringing the idea home referencing women?

Ok but I think the visual would have been much better my way.

the noob said ruslan would beat your slight fave in ramil 11 to 4.....

How many times does Karen have to beat top male players for you guys to stop calling them upsets?

50?

100?

1000?

What's the magic number?

...And then you try to qualify it by saying, "yeah, but it's not a race to 100." Seriously? Karen is one of the best players in the world today, man or woman. Accept it, and admire her for it.

Get off your high horse.

It's not an upset because she's a woman. It's an upset because if they played 10 races to 11 she'd win less than half.

If Shane plays a 14.1 match against Darren going to 200, and Shane wins. Guess what?

That's an upset.

Not really. That's far from an upset. Shane's high run in 14.1 is 305 and he barely plays the game.

305 in practice.

In competition Darren is leaps and bounds above Shane at 14.1

So yes, it would be an upset.

Just like Darren beating Shane at one pocket would also be an upset.

Million to 1?

Ahhhhhhhh wrong ,, 500-1 is a joke she's millions -1 to win it all

1

A million to one? I'll take that bet.

Just give me 1,000 to one, and I'll bet on her in any event, any time!

Oh, wait! I almost forgot, - women are inferior to men and can never really win a men's event at anything.

When Kelly Kulick won the Men's Tournament of Champions bowling title in 2010, it must have been trick photography!

Fran, would you put Karen as one of the top 100 players in the world today? That is a serious question. I'm pretty sure back in the day she would have made the list, but in 2015...I'm not so sure about that.

If a player like Shane Winters or Hillbilly beat Ko, there would be just as much of an uproar, I believe. Both are great players but to best the current double world champ in the first round is definitely news worthy.

Either way, congrats to Karen and I hope she doesn't stop there.

wow that is impressive...

i dont care who you are, you've gotta be playing some good pool to beat the world champion in a race to 11.

Just like Darren beating Shane at one pocket would also be an upset.

Just like Darren, Shane has also ran multiple 200's in competition, he just doesn't compete in them as often as Darren. He is as capable, but hasn't won anything in 14.1 yet, though he did place 2nd in the World 14.1 in 2014 and placed 5th this year.

Now I do agree that Darren beating Shane at One Pocket would be an upset because Darren has no notable wins or high finishes in One Pocket even though he does play the game often.

Darren's Twin Peaks

Ok but I think the visual would have been much better my way.

I see a nice graph (no, I am not seeing anything else :) )
So the graph shows 2 peaks for Darren. Darren first peaked early this year meaning that big $100K C8B tourney. Then sort of dropped fell in valley in past months culminating a shocking poor performance in World Cup of Pool semifinal missing number of key shots. Then yesterday, he won the American 14.1 shows that he is slowly peaking and may culminate in 2nd peak winning US Open end of this week

Anyone remember that old Pierce Brosnan movie Dante's Peak. Well this is Darren's Twin Peaks (no pun intended)

Looks like it is you. Way to go, there is always one of "those guys" and you volunteered to be "that guy".

LOL. No.

I'm just having fun with the variance crowd because to them, this isn't a win. (They always have some excuse)

I don't care about variance.
In pool, variance is just an excuse people use so their horse doesn't look bad when they lose.
Cause unless these two are playing every day for a month so people can apply their math, it's ridiculous to even talk about V in a pool context.

She destroyed KPY. BIG TIME.
RIPPED HIM TO SHREDS.
Demolished him way better then SVB ever has. LOL

And there is nothing the V boys can do about it.
:D
