Ku King Snooker Cue

A customer gave me a Brunswick Ku King snooker cue last night for repair. I would post a picture but am having trouble downsizing it. The problem is when the cue is put together there is a gap between the collar of the butt and the collar of the shaft. It almost looks like part of the collar is missing on the shaft, but after looking at it a little longer it appears that the wood that appeared to be a gap is actually a pilot, like some of the older Rich cues. The only problem is that there is no place for the pilot to go into. Is it possible for the space for the pilot to disappear? Any and all help will be appreciated. I just don't want to add a piece of joint collar if that is not the proper fix. Otherwise the cue is in pretty good shape. Thanks

It sounds to me like it is not the original shaft or else it would fit properly. The good news is that any competent repair person or
cuemaker can make it fit.

Good Cuemaking,

Is the pin pulled from the butt? Just a guess without pics. That would cause a gap. I had a customer who liked to overtighten his cue and pulled the pin out when he unscrewed it....

A pic would help a bunch. Are you saying the butt is flat faced,
like a Meucci? Is the joint collar brass?

I'm with Arnot at this point, guessing somewhere parts got mismatched.

update:

Thanks to good old Google I was able to eyeball a pic.
The cue originally had a WHITE fiber joint collar on the butt backed up by a black collar,
much like the Master Stroke. If there is now only a black collar, all is revealed.

ps Maybe that is what the customer wants repaired:)

It looks like a piece was added to the inside of the joint collar on the butt so the pilot won't go in. The collar on the butt is white delrin or some plastic. It appears that the joint collar around the screw needs to be bored out for the pilot to fit. I'm working on pictures to show the problem. Thanks for your interest so far.

I just figured out the problem. The butt had two joint collars on it. A thin black one and a taller white one. The thin black one is missing and the tall white one was pushed down in it's place. Thus the reason for no pilot hole. Once I replace the missing black joint collar and put the white one in it's proper place, there will be a space for the pilot. Simple once I figured it out. Thanks for all the advice.
