Laminate restoration?

Has anyone tried this on GC laminate?

I have tried the finest paper which leaves a dull surface that the polishing compound buffs back to new. I'm afraid to use the courser paper on the deeper scratches for fear of cutting through something and ruining my rail.

Maybe someone with a rail they don't care about the laminate can try this kit using the instructions for restoring headlights and see what happens?

If someone has a gold crown laminate rail they want to try this on using all the sandpaper steps from course to fine to the polish I will buy the kit and send it to you if you will take before and after pics and report the results. I think there's a really good chance this will restore the laminate to a like new shiny condition and take out all the scratches using the exact instructions for restoring headlights with it but I'm afraid to pull the trigger and try it on my rails. The cloth needs to be off of the rail to do it so it needs to be a step in recovering the rails.

Jc, I have used the 3M headlite restoration kit many times on headlites and Lexan, it works good. The thing that would concern me on the GC laminate would be going thru the clear coating, I think it is pretty thin. Couldn't you pick up some glossy laminate and test it out that way first?

Not sure if today's laminate is constructed the same as the stuff on the old tables. Or how deep the clear coat is. That's my concern.
