I am wondering how the quality is on relaminating on an older GC1??Rails..Is there someone that is top notch??
Thanks

new lam

New rails from Brunswick would be expensive as hell, IF you can get them. Any quality cabinet making shop should be able to do that for you. I have a Friend that is a cabinet maker/ custom TABLE manufacturer and have seen him do it many times. It shouldn't be overly expensive either.

Rails

Could you provide a number or address,I would like to get an estimate on the laminate & new rubber also
Thanks

When you are speaking of laminating, does that mean the formica clear coat on the tops of the rails? If so I'd be very interested in calling the person you have referred.

laminate defined

Formica = laminate. I was refering to stripping off the old formica and replaceing it with new. Also comes in thousands of colors/paterns. To someone not familiar with the process it can be VERY difficult. No clear coats or spray on finishes of any kind are used in this process. Hope I answered your question.

not a table mech........just a cabinetmaker/ woodworker.......prob did acres of lam in my life.....never did a table though ........LOL

"plastic laminate" ......the barbox we shot at thurs night had PIECES missing...

i was thinking bout "volunteering" to replace it for bout $500 or so...all day job + material etc. got drunk and forgot.

would have to take the cushions off

heat from a heat gun or yer old ladys iron would do to soften the existing glue, then the lam just peels off

NEED A LOT OF VENTILATION......NO OPEN FLAMES, PILOT LIGHTS ETC..THIS STUFF IS "BOMB IN A CAN"

scrape off bits of junk...clean with contact adhesive thinner, needs to be smooth

cut new lam oversize.......coat lam & top of rails with contact adhesive....may take a few coats.......then you let the glue DRY.

line up the lam.leaving overhang, and lay it down.......it WILL stick INSTANTLY with NO movement possible.except heat and starting over.

trim all edges etc with a lam trimmer or a router with a trimmer bit.

the diamonds ???? pretty easy to do round ones using a forstner bit for the holes.......and a plug cutter for the inserts.

the "diamond" shaped ones..........i gotta think on that a little....but a router/template set-up prob.

check yer local yellow pages under.... counter tops......kitchen/bath cabinets,
cabinet makers, millwork
