Laminated core?

Do many cue makers/production cues use this technique? I'm trying to get my head around why I feel that Mezz, although it's a production cue feels so solid. They use a shorter ss joint, they use a different kind of bumper. Pro's cons of laminated cores?

i use laminated for coring

i was having a pool room built and wanted a very large span of solid glass for the view. the room is 28 by 24, most builders were telling me on the 28 side i would have to have multi windows with about 18 inches of wall in between them because they needed support in between them, finally one builder said, no problem we will just get a laminated beam for the entire span and have no problem. he explained to me how much strong that laminated wood is, so i started looking into using it for my cores. i also use other woods, but if the weight, balance, tone, etc etc, is ok i will use laminated wood.

I use either a full length 29" 6-pie laminated core with solid or 6-pie laminated woods on top or I use full length 29" 6-pie laminated wood for the complete butt. Solid hit and many times no need for any metal in the cue, so, yes, I like them.
