i woke up from a dream last night and could see the largest tournament ever happening in the whole world.
I saw how the money raised for the tournament. In fact there was actually 2 tournaments, kind of like they had it in galvaston texas.
In this dream most of the money for the prize money was raised by us pool players ourselves that just want to see a tournament of this magnitude.
A $20.00 donation to the prize money would get that person pay per view for the entire tournament. The money was sent directly to the bank with a commitee of 5 people the only ones that could do anything with the money and it would take all 5 signatures to get the money out only after the tournament was completed. We the pool players ourselves could make this happen. There is no telling how much money could be raised if everyone partcipated and sent a little bit.
I can see this happening.
At first everyone thought this was a joke but as the money started to build up the interest got bigger and bigger. Pretty soon some big sponsors got involved.
Pretty soon these $20.00 donations brought the prize money up to $80,000.00 and this didn't include any entry fees yet.
More sponsors got involved and started kicking in 10 to 20 thousand a crack after realizing how huge this thing was getting. The money in the bank would be automatically invested to collect interest right away. This would also help pump up the prize money because we would start this process at least a year before the tournament was scheduled to be.
The city would even kick in some money bringing such a huge event to the area. All ther cue companies would want to be there. And the money would just keep building with a running total on the internet everyday so everyone could see how it was growing..
On the pro side the entry could be as high as 1,000.00 per person. Per tournament. 10 ball and 8-ball. With 200 players per tournament that would be $200,000.00 prize money per tournament before any of the added money was even put in. Who knows. The pot could get as high as $500,000.00 per event.
This could happen.
On the amatuer side the entry could still be $100.00 entry per tournament 8-ball and 10 ball the same way. With the bigger bulk of the money added there to bring the prize money up to what the pro events are paying out. Wow,what a deal for the amatuer players. A real payday where you don't have to win first to pay expenses.
Once this is apparent that this will work and be a success there could be work started to build up a tournament for next year. Or maybe even have one every 6 months.
This would really happen by pooling together with all pool players everywhere to get it started.
Kind of exciting.
Who knows. Maybe someone will read this that is in a position to make this happen and put this idea to work.
It's just a dream but i really think it could be a reality.
Time will tell. What a great dream...............................
