Come on man, tell us how you really feel about the guy. Why you want to come on here and slam the guy? You got a beef? I don't know any crack addicts but I think they are looking for their next ROCK.
Purdman :p

Nothing wrong, he's a roadplayer, a very nice guy, but on the road you can piss people off. Some people are upset at him entering amateur tournaments or hiding his true playing speed. Welcome to pool.

Tom happened to sign a similar post on mnbilliards.com with:

"Tom C. - thinks the nickname should be Larry "The Watchman" Nevel. Those in Madison understand that one."

I've heard the rumors before and don't care to repeat the story but it has nothing to do with pool and more to do with misplaced trust.

You are right that I do not like the guy, actually there are not too many around Madison that would like to see him around again. No disrespect to his game, he is a great player and could be even better. I am wondering how he got the nickname because it is a long way from being accurate he has cheated his own friends and girlfriends to make a buck and that is a fact.

Wow! You mean that some pool players actually stall a bit to hide just how good they are in an effort to make more money? What is this world coming to?!?!?!?

like wise

Purdy, I also feel the same as you. Why go out and knock someone if you don't like them, or you hear BS, gossop? Larry's a good guy in my opinion.
No need to talk trash about anyone. There's enough knocks about folks with out any added extras.

Well, I know that he was sponsored by a custom cue maker for quite some time. He recently picked up a much larger sponsor and he promptly returned the custom cue to the cue maker...... I haven't heard that happen to often....

When did this happen? As early as two weeks ago he was still with Reeves Cues... not only sponsored by them but living there and working for them. I'm good friends with the Reeves brothers and I know they're not only good people but they think the world of Larry. I could make a phone call and find out later today, but just curious as to what you've heard until I can make the call.

Thanks!

Larry is a lot of things: some good, some bad. Larry has done a lot of things: some good, some bad. There aren't too many people that don't fit into this category. As far as the nickname, would someone prefer that all of the nicknames represent the pro players %100 acurately? Could be some pretty colorful nicknames !!!
:D

I didn't know who the new sponsor was, but a very good friend of mine has a custom Omen cue (60", ebony butt/forearm, curly handle, 4pt w/ veneers) that I have been using. He told me that this was Larry Nevel's cue the past year or so. I talked with Pete Ohman regarding his cues and mentioned this cue. Pete told me that he did sponsor Larry, and earlier this year (could've been late last year) Larry picked up a larger sponsor and returned the custom that Pete made for him as soon as the deal was sealed.

I saw on tv recently Larry playing in a skins game and was using that exact cue, so I know that it was fairly recent (within the past year).

I know Larry was playing with a Reeves cue last yr at Valley Forge and last I heard, he was still with them. In regards to the original post, I thought that you were talking about him leaving Reeves cues. If Larry left Pete in order to play for Reeves, I wouldn't call it a "larger sponsor". One of the Reeves brothers worked with Mike Gulyassy for quite sometime and then branched out on his own.

Again, no names of new sponsor were mentioned to me, this is just what Pete had told me.......

Timberly,

Larry and Jimmy were together at the Smokey Mountain a couple of weeks ago. I talked to them both, and Larry is still working with Jimmy and living in Easley.

Tommy called me on his way up to that tournament which is the last time I talked to him. When the other post mentioned he "used" to play for a custom cue maker I began to wonder but once he clarified the other cue makers name, I realized I was mistaken. Thanks Mike!

Funny this one was brought up...

I'm known recently as Ross "Slanderous LIAR" Connally...

Gremlin was nice enough to bestow this upon me...
