henho said:Nothing wrong, he's a roadplayer, a very nice guy, but on the road you can piss people off. Some people are upset at him entering amateur tournaments or hiding his true playing speed. Welcome to pool.
Purdy, I also feel the same as you. Why go out and knock someone if you don't like them, or you hear BS, gossop? Larry's a good guy in my opinion.Donald A. I don't know any crack addicts but I think they are looking for their next ROCK.

When did this happen? As early as two weeks ago he was still with Reeves Cues... not only sponsored by them but living there and working for them. I'm good friends with the Reeves brothers and I know they're not only good people but they think the world of Larry. I could make a phone call and find out later today, but just curious as to what you've heard until I can make the call.1pRoscoe said:Well, I know that he was sponsored by a custom cue maker for quite some time. He recently picked up a much larger sponsor and he promptly returned the custom cue to the cue maker...... I haven't heard that happen to often....
I know Larry was playing with a Reeves cue last yr at Valley Forge and last I heard, he was still with them. In regards to the original post, I thought that you were talking about him leaving Reeves cues. If Larry left Pete in order to play for Reeves, I wouldn't call it a "larger sponsor". One of the Reeves brothers worked with Mike Gulyassy for quite sometime and then branched out on his own.1pRoscoe said:I didn't know who the new sponsor was, but a very good friend of mine has a custom Omen cue (60", ebony butt/forearm, curly handle, 4pt w/ veneers) that I have been using. He told me that this was Larry Nevel's cue the past year or so. I talked with Pete Ohman regarding his cues and mentioned this cue. Pete told me that he did sponsor Larry, and earlier this year (could've been late last year) Larry picked up a larger sponsor and returned the custom that Pete made for him as soon as the deal was sealed.
I saw on tv recently Larry playing in a skins game and was using that exact cue, so I know that it was fairly recent (within the past year).

No big deal really. I was just curious if he had recently left Reeves. Thanks for the info!1pRoscoe said:Again, no names of new sponsor were mentioned to me, this is just what Pete had told me.......

Tommy called me on his way up to that tournament which is the last time I talked to him. When the other post mentioned he "used" to play for a custom cue maker I began to wonder but once he clarified the other cue makers name, I realized I was mistaken. Thanks Mike!Mike Templeton said:Timberly,
Larry and Jimmy were together at the Smokey Mountain a couple of weeks ago. I talked to them both, and Larry is still working with Jimmy and living in Easley.
