I saw this engraving in the steel joint on a Tim Scruggs cue, I think he used to offer this but doesn't any more.

I was thinking this would be a nice way to add a little flair to your favorite cue, but in searching found only one site that does this.

Does anyone know of any other sites or know any people that do laser engraving on joints? Has anyone had this done to one of their cues?
 
Thoughts ...

I have always found this interesting, but often wondered
if it affects the stability of the joint. Plus I have not quite
decided whether enhances or distracts from the look of a cue.

Not to go off topic, but one of my friends Dad here is one
heck of a Whittler, and he has carved many butts of cues
for quite a few people. He does beautiful work, all types
of designs and animals. Some people like it because it
gives them a grip for their butt hand.

look at on the hill cues www.on the hill cue.com they have a richard C. cue that has a cool joint.It is for sale in the used section on on the hill cue sales.

No way it would affect the joint's stability. It is a very small % of material that is removed. I would have to agree on the uncertainty of the appearance tho, whether it enhances or detracts from the beauty.

Engraving...

When I was shopping for cues, I found that Joss (Dan Janes), offers engraving of the joint in their 'create a cue' option...haven't seen it anywhere else though...maybe a Jeweler or a Trophy shop???

Unless I am mistaken, Laserarttechniques is the one doing the engraving for Joss. If the page would load, you should see many examples on Joss cue joints.

The page that opens is a "pop-up" so if you have a pop-up blocker or using Firefox, it won't show.

You'll have to ok the pop-up to view it.

Thanks! I am running Firefox, as I use Linux for all my internet activity, Windows for non-web activity.

Engraving

I don't have a laser, but I do CNC engraving that I can wrap around the joint, or other parts of the cue. When I was learning the technique I made a purpleheart cue with the images of 9 different models of Corvettes engraved around the cue.
I also engrave "Sherm Cues" on my pins.

just more hot air!

Would love to see some pics of what you can do with a cnc on a joint.
