Last Jerry Franklin SW... JOB

it's already been posted and yes he is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
unless somebody crazier than him buys it.

the thing is,,,,ok, it was JF's last, BUT SW still continues on. a gross overestimation of JF, if you ask me.

hey what you guys think.... is this guy crazy??? $60,000 for the last Jerry Franklin SW (fancy custom)... where do you guys estimate the current value... Maybe he accidentally put one too many zeros in there...

I believe the price to be way out of line, first as Bruin already said SW is still in business and anyone who know's anything about SW knows that Jerry didn't make the fancy cues, sure he worked on every cue that came out of the shop, but he wasn't doing the inlays, so fancy or not really has no play IMO, also the next batch of cues that came out were also worked on by Jerry, this wasn't the last cue he worked on it was the last fancy one he shipped. But most important I'd say that the fact that SW cues had many workers and continues on makes that price a bit out of control. I wish the guy good luck with selling it though, why not try? If it were mine it may take that number to pry it away also.

educate me jim! i was under the impression that when alive jerry did do the fancy cue inlays. who was actually doing them? and are they the ones still doing the inlays?
i agree about "the last cue baloney" it is more marketing than anything else (perhaps from the mind of mk, master marketeer). one cue gets designated the last cue even though others were made around the same time.

But shipping is covered.

Does anyone know who the seller is?

Chris

Well the issue will always be WHICH is the last cue..

I know for a fact, confirmed by SW, that the story on the cue we have in the SW section, was indeed picked up from SW on the Friday before Jerry's death. (Mark checked before he bought it) Did he go to the post office after that? Who knows. Its a nice cue.

Nope.

who was actually doing them?
Someone else. A few someone elses depending on the year

and are they the ones still doing the inlays?
I don't think so.

At any time in the SW shop, there are 100 cues in process. Now, which one should get the "last Jerry Franklin-era" Southwest?

Note to anyone else, the last "Jerry Franklin-era Southwest" if there is such an animal should be from the previous year, IMO.

Did you mean the following year?? I'm not following you here Fred.
As you know the SW shop has many workers and they all do certain jobs, that being said Jerry era cues had work done by others as well as him and some cues that came out in that time may have even gone through the shop without him working on them, that being said cues finished after his death would have also had been worked on by him. Depending on what stage the cues were in at the time of his death there may be 20+ Cues finished after May that he did significant work on. Unlike someone like Gus who once he died all production stopped until Barry started up.

Jerry only did finishing work in the latter part of his cuemaking career. Laurie said that when he broke his collarbone, he didn't even do that. So, in his last year, he didn't touch a cue (as far as manufacturing goes).

Is that still "Jerry Franklin - Era"? Does that reduce their mystic quality?

Fred <~~~ with Laurie there, they're still Franklin-era

So where does that leave the cue on E-bay?

So at $6,000 we will have a boat load of takers I am sure.

6K is still a nut for most people, so I guess it depends how big of a boat you're talking about.
