Does anyone know where I could access the text of the last set of BCA rules for Last Pocket 8 Ball? (I may be mistaken but I think the last year the BCA published them was back in 1948.)

To the best of my memory, they weren't in the 1948 rules. The 1948 rules I believe were the first set of rules published by the new BCA (off shoot of the BBIA). This included the 1 and 15 in the side stipulation and all shots were slop.

The possible last time Last Pocket 8-ball rules were in the BCA rulebook might be (1982 or so):

A small nit: the BAA (Billiard Association of America) was the group that published the rules from 1945-1947 before turning into the BCA.

The OP may want to ask locals how they play the game. It seems that there are several variations, none of which matches the 1982 BCA rules.

The reason I was asking is because there is a variation of Last Pocket 8 played by a lot of Latinos that is totally (to me) weird. Slop counts, no penalty for fouls other than scratches, if the OB is in the kitchen you have to shoot out of the kitchen and back in, and the 8 ball must go in "clean". I tell the local players that it's crazy and that the real rules are call shot, fouls are ball in hand anywhere, and that caroming the 8 off your opponent's ball is not loss of game, but they say "Well but this is how we play".

I refuse to play with them because to me that's just not how the game should be played.

First off I'd like to say that I am not a big fan of last pocket but in the bars that is what the bangers like to play. The game definitely favours or helps the weaker player. I look at it as a handicap. You can break and run your balls but mess around with the 8 forever because your last pocket was blocked by one of your opponents balls.

These are the rules as far as I know.

Break

Open off the break regardless what drops (might have to argue about this one)

Slop counts, don't have to call your pocket but have to hit your ball first

Don't have to hit a rail after contact

If you sewer it's behind the line

If you are both on the 8 and one of you sewers the game is over

I rather play bank the 8 if you want to incorporate the bs just my honest opinion
