Has anyone checked out the cue delux for sale on ebay. Its up to a whopping $1225. Its missing some tooling and ect.ect, and I cant believe it. Chris Hightower must make an awsome product for the resale value to be this high. Thats like what, $500 of the cost of a new one. There is still 4 days left. Wow, way to go Chris.

great lathe

chirs builds a great lathe. i have bought 2, new about 3000.00. so the one on ebay is not a bad buy. you can get all updates with chris.

Somrthing's bogus with this ebay auction

While this HIGHTOWER, lathe for sale good lathe, may be a good lathe, I think this person is using another account to bid on their own item.
Either that or this person bidding has no concept of money, nor can they read.

This lathe for sale contains only the larger bore and bed.It is older, used and for a few hundred dollars the person could by a new midsize.
It has been stripped of the auto feed, taper bar, and most of it's attachments.

Something's not right with this auction. i personally think the seller is biddingon his/ hers own item, or has a friend with no sense trying to help him out and raise the bid.

We'll see who's happy with their purchase.

The lathe has the cross-slide set up spring loaded ready for taper bars, which is worth about $150 extra, rear chuck $100 on top of $1895 base price new minus collets and lathe pins which will cost about $114 to replace. That means the lathe just like it is would run over $2000 new. So it is about in line for what I estimate an older lathe to bring and that is 2/3rd new price. As far as comparing it to a Midsize, this is better than the small headstock Midsize.

I am the owner of the lathe. I have 100% feedback with Ebay and I resent the fact that you think I bid on my own item. I sure as hell would not do something like that. Feel free to contact the bidder because I assure you it isn't me. That is a bold statement. I described the lathe to the best of my ability. I stated that it is used and what it would and wouldn't come with. The person who has the high bid has 263 + feedback 100% and it sure as hell ain't me. Please don't accuse me of shill bidding again jackass.

You're doing just fine! Your words say it all!

Did i rattle you chain there a little!
Strike a nerve?

Why would you be so upset?

Maybe because you accused him of being a dishonest seller bidding on his own item. If I was an honest seller, and a cuemaker with integrity, I would be mad also.

He even said please don't accuse him...other than calling you jackass, he was pretty nice.

Yeah, you struck a nerve. You called me a crook on a public forum. I would never bid on my own item. I apologize for calling you a jackass (could've been the eggnog;) ) but being called a crook sure doesn't sit well with me.

The high bidder has recently bought plenty of wood turning blanks, end mills and lathe books, looks legit to me.

Really, where did you read this? Just checked the feedback record.

I just checked it too and I see exactly what Magnetardo saw. You should do more research before accusing someone on this or any other public forum. Incredibly irresponsible.

Hey Homer,

No offense....Campy is an honest fellow and I (like many) really don't feel that that the bidding (price) is that outta the realm of reailty!?

Yes, you can buy a brand new lathe from Chris (which maybe you should) ; however, the secondary market is .....just that ....another market which is hoping to get a little discount!?

Happy Holidays & Merry Xmas,

Ken ;)

just looked at purchases by plan-o-1 and he has purchased a lot of wood and related items,,,apparently you don't know how to search on eBay in an orderly fashion before spewing out garbage about people you don't know on this forum....JMHO

lathe

Wow, This lathe is up to $1500. I cant remember when I saw A used lathe with this high of a resale value. Either this hightower machine is truly superior to others, or something is wrong! Still its a lot less than the other manufactures in the same class. Im certianly sure that who ever gets it wont be dissapointed. I am also sure Chris Hightower Will help out in any way he can.

lathe

If you go a page or two back you will see that he has bought delrin, wood and other cue realated supplies. just have to do a little looking to find what is there if you don't want to see it you won't find it. but the lathe is still a steal at that price. for the deluxe model you could spend a couple hundred more and get a midsize. but that would be the buyers choice wouldn't it?

Amazing To Me!!!

Forums are amazing to me, this one especially...People with a little power at their fingertips, do not think before they post. I quickly went to the ebay auction and did see that he has bought many items that I would say go with Cuemaking or Machining. He has purchased (Chuck, Delrin, Center Finder, etc...) Seems to have some interest in the biz.

Quoted from Chris Hightower "the lathe just like it is would run over $2000 new. So it is about in line for what I estimate an older lathe to bring and that is 2/3rd new price.". The pricing is right in line with Used Machinery. I have seen our machinery go for over the Retail pricing, because someone did not do a little research to see what our retail pricing is. Come on guys chill out, not everyone is out to get you...Think a little before you post. I am not on here to let Users know how much of an idiot they are. I am here to learn, teach, and meet new interesting people in the Billiard world. Can't we all just get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas to all, and Happy New Year.
Go Hug your children, wife or significant other...
