Lathe not working :(

I have this lathe and yesterday it worked fine... Today it doesn't. I checked the two fuses in the back and they seem fine. When I was done yesterday I pushed in the Stop/Reset like I do everytime. Today I go outside and turn it to the right it pops back out and press the start button and hit inching to see what speed I got and nothing.... Now, I think it maybe the start button, as when I press it, it doesn't click like I think I remember it clicking. I'm thinking of replacing the button what do you think?

time to break out the multi-meter

Glen,

Sounds like it is unlikely to be a big deal. Got power at the wall? Work out from there. I don't think that the click you were hearing was the start button but I could be wrong.

Slow down, take three deep breaths, your toy is probably just fine. Of course mine is still busted!

Clicking is usually a relay in there...they take a dump once in a while...but check everything from the outlet out....or contact Grizzly....

Mine looks like your machine and its the emergency button that'll ost likely need replacing. Check the breakers in the electrical panel in the back too. Make sure that the chuck clears all obstructions before proceeding.

I think I'll replace both if they aren't that expensive. I can't be without my lathe, I felt completely useless last night. I need help, is there a Lathe Anonymous around?

do you have basic electro-mechanical knowledge?

as in repair and testing? if not call grizzly. You can waste money and time at the least by changing what you think may be wrong, or killed by incorrectly doing it. Contactors often go bad, they are a form of relay, but beyond telling you that I urge you to go no further.

No electrical experience at all. Maybe I should get an electrician. I'm not sure what grizzly can do over the phone, but I will call them today.
