Hi,
Also you want to drill at a slow rate on cues when doing blind holes and use very sharp drill bits. 400 rpm is what I use.
Drilling blind holes too fast can create enough heat to mess up the cured epoxy like at a joint or butt cap area for example. When doing these blind holes, don't linger with the drill bit in there as heat builds up very fast. If you are drilling a blind hole and you smoke or burn the wood or insert you spinning way too fast.
Just peck the hole a little and get out of dodge while blowing air and keep repeating until you have the desired penetration. This is a danger zone and the hair on the back of your head should be standing up because you can ruin a joint and cue finish in a hurry if your not viewing the job as ( HLA) heightened level of awareness situation.
Also Chris's example RPMs 1300 to 2000 is good for boring once the blind hole is established and don't be afraid to keep blowing 100 psi air in there to cool things down during and after an operation. Can't be too careful!
