I have some ferrules that are metric thread - M11P1.25
I do not have the extra gear in my lathe to change to metric. Is there a TPI setting that I could use to be identical to P1.25? The M11 must be 11 mm, or am I wrong?

you can always buy the gear.....i bought the one i needed for 18 tpi for 50 bucks....

This may seem half a$$ed but you could always just re-tap them.
 
I stated "given the numbers you've provided" for a reason.
There is an obvious mistake that no one else has picked-up on.
11mm = .433"
If that's the id, you've got a problem.
I fail to see how you're going to re-tap to a 5/16x18.

If in fact they are 11mm id, that means that they sit on a 7/16" tenon.
On a 13mm shaft, this means that the wall thickness of the ferrule is 1mm(.03937")(or less). Start reducing the shaft dia. from 13mm and the ferrule wall thickness gets thinner accordingly.

Any chance you could post a pic of these bad-boys so we can SEE what you've got?

For Tony's sake, I hope he has a ferrule rod to tap 5/16 18.

I am just assuming it is actually M8-1.25. about 5/16 or M10-1.5 about 3/8.

From what's been presented so far, I'm guessing they are similar to Predator's. But even Predator's tenon is down around .400", depending on whether it's Gen1 or Gen2. They are different by a few thou.
I'm not speculating further until I see a pic.

Hey KJ.
The OD on the break ferrule is 14.32mm and ID is 9.98mm
The OD on the regular ferrule is 13.88mm and ID is 9.98mm

Thanx for the pic. We now have a whole new set of questions.
Where did the 11mm come from?
What is it you want to thread? I doubt that the tenon is threaded.
Do you have TPI gages?
Why do you want to use these ferrules?

I don't like the flat-lam mtrl. IMO it's inferior.
You see the flat-lam lines going across the base of the ferrule?
When it breaks, it will break at one of those lines.
They are built-in fault lines.

I'm not sure what your question would be at this point but if your pitch of 1.25mm is correct, it's an easy math problem.
1.25mm is the distance from the peak of one thread to the peak of the one next to it. Metric threads are figured a little differently than SAE.
1.25mm is roughly .050".
.050" goes into 1 inch 20 times. Set your thread transmission to 20 TPI and you can cut that thread.
