lava chalk

the reason the lava chalk only comes in the rust color is because they do not use any dye's or additive's to change the chalk color. there is actual lava rock in the chalk recipe and when it oxidizes it turns that rust color you see now. it is a purely organic chalk and the only one on the market.

Good to know. Maybe I'll get some so I don't have to cut down on all the cheeseburgers and fries.

Exactly! How does some of this stuff get through to production?

Designer: "Hey I got an idea."
Company: "What?"
Designer: " Chalk"
Company: "Chalk? What kind of chalk?"
Designer: "Red chalk."
Company: "Red chalk? Why would people buy red chalk??"
Designer: " Uh, because it's red. People like the color red. And
blue is already taken.....".
Company: " Brilliant!!"

you forgot to mention if we made it blue we could charge $35 a cube

Better hope that they don't use pumice. Try some pumice out on your balls and see how you like the result.

Vicosity applies to liquid friction. From wikipedia:

"Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress. In everyday terms (and for fluids only), viscosity is "thickness" or "internal friction". Thus, water is "thin", having a lower viscosity, while honey is "thick", having a higher viscosity. Put simply, the less viscous the fluid is, the greater its ease of movement (fluidity).[1]"

No don't think so :D

NO WHERE does it mention "pure organic", "100% organic" or anything similar.

Quite the opposite, in fact. They state that they take volcanic slag powder and then "use traditional manufacturing methods, carefully calibrating our master blend......".

BLEND means other stuff is added. NO mention of that stuff being organic.

In other words, it's just plain ol' pool chalk, with some unknown amount of lava added. Enough to turn it a disgusting RUST color.

at my normal table the felt is red we use red triangle or red master. here is our table I'm going to try blue diamond chalk just to see how it does and if it comes off like some of the other chalks. as in leaving stains. here is the table

i did rotate the pic but i guess it doesnt want to stay that way.

I have been using Lava for 6 months now and it works great on med-hard to hard tips. Does not stain the shaft and bites the cue ball good all the while not having to chalk the tip frequently except when playing extreme english.

Pats off of any surface in no time as well.

I too use Lava...

But that because we currently have had a tan felt, and it blended well! It plays well, but It does tend to loose "Chunks" here and there...

I still use my BD everywhere else I can.

I've used Triangle, Master, Silver Cup and Predator so far. I have to say Predator is by far the best in terms of adhesion to the tip, coeficient of friction, value for money and style - don't you just love the octagonal shape !

Regarding Lava and their advertising. I was almost tempted to buy a pack because of the exoticness of the name "Lava" until I read about the viscosity which told me it was designed and manufacturer by people who have no clue about physics. Oh well..

If anyone from Lava is reading this, try replacing "viscosity" with "high coeficient of friction" and/or "tip adhesion" and you will find your sales might increase a bit.

Lava Chalk In Blue ... !~

Enjoyed y'all's discussion on Lava chalk, but no one mentioned that it now comes in blue as well as the original pinkish red color ...

This information might be a bit late, but it also may be informative as well ... !~
