anyone know what type of glue is used to glue the layers on a layered tip together? im gonna take a wack at making a layered tip. I already succeded in making one using superglue to bond the layers.. makes for a super hard break tip...that holds chalk really well. I'm trying to make a soft layered tip...similar to the hit of a soft morri..

My first thought is try Gorilla glue. It only takes a very, very small amount. It foams a bit and will glue anything. The foam is a bit flexible and would seem to give a softer hit. You may also want to try the new "flexible" rubberized superglue thats available.
I must say though that it seems you are just wasting your time. There are just too many fine tips available to even mess with attempting to make one.;)

Home Depot...they have an excellent selection of glues.
really? I'm always at home depot.. and I have never seen it.. maybe I'll take another look. :)

I had to order the rubberized superglue that I use from a place in town. Motion Industries. I have a Lowes and Menards here and usually don't even bother looking for a more specilized material there. I went through the Loctite catalog and picked the one I wanted. The catalog has all the specs for each glue. Good luck

I, for one, encourage you. Not too sure how lofty your eventual goals are, but Mr. Moori and Tony Kalamdaryan (Tiger Products) had to start somewhere. Keep us up on your progress.

Tips

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Finding the right glue might be a big part of this. I have been told that "hide" glue might be the best, but it seems like there has to be an easier product out there somewhere. Also, what type of leather are you using?

!!!!!!!!!

I to am experimenting with making my own tips. I am presently using goat
skin an a form of rubberized cyanoacrylate. I am also working on a form of
milkdud that I am testing on my pesonal playing cue. I used it at DCC it really preformed well. If an when I get my layer tips perfected I will let you
know. The only thing I can say is my milkduds are the nutz. I will should have both for sale by early spring an as any of you that have dealt with me know my prices are very reasonable.
