Durometer shore A or D?

So I sent my new shore A durometer in to make sure it was accurate. I get it back and was told it was accurate. It is a digital durometer and also has a calibration button. I was told a few reputable sources use the shore A. All my readings are 90 and up with the shore A durometer. My shore D gives me what I feel is a more accurate reading. Most tip read between 58-95. Any comment from the people using a shore A durometer?
