Ld shaft question?

"This is so weird, I bought new headlights for my truck and got ticketed for running a stop sign. Then a week later I borrowed my cousin's truck and nothing happened. Has anyone else noticed new headlights cause legal problems??"

I have not noticed this. Are the two trucks the same color or different? You can't compare apples and oranges.

I am not sure where you got that I think the shaft makes balls for me. Obviously the one making the balls is me. On the other hand, your story was quite entertaining. In my findings, it was evident that the amount of balls I make with a regular shaft was greater than the amount I make with the ld shaft. I do not blame the equipment I just find that maybe ld shafts aren't best for ME.

Sorry, I was in a ball-busting mood that day apparently.

A lot of guys misunderstand what LD shafts are supposed to do for them, which is only one thing: change your line of aim.
They hear some hype about how it will make you more consistent and get extra spin and get super draw and so on... and get unrealistic expectations.
That's what I was joking about.

There's no reason you will perform better with a low deflection shaft, and there's no reason you'll perform worse. It just depends on what you're used to.

I'll admit it would be a little weird if you spend your whole life playing with low deflection, and then shot GREAT with a high deflection shaft the first time you tried it.
But sometimes people just have a good night (or a bad one).

to me the big question is how long did you shoot with maple shafts before the 314, and how long have you been shooting with the 314?

The way I see it, if you've been playing with a regular, non-LD shaft for a long time and you know how to use, compensate for deflection almost naturally at this point, play well, etc., then don't change a thing. Stick with what you're comfortable with.

If you're just starting out or aren't sure if you fit the above description. Get an LD shaft and stop worrying about it.

I played with solid maple shafts for a long time and about a year ago i switched to predator. It was a 3 month ordeal and i find now i am finally real comforatable with it. I find that on 85% of shots there is no difference but when you have to bring a long stroke shot i have an edge with the ld shaft. It is a given that as tables and conditions change as well as the speed of the shot aim changes can be drastic but by reducing squirt 1 variable is reduced. As an example with the table length ob frozen on rail at opposite end of table with my schon i would have to aim for a 1/4 ball hit on the wrong side for the cut with hard inside i now aim for a 1/4 ball hit on the correct side for the rail first shot. From this you realize that on a long normal cut not a frozen rail shot you have a margin of error due to pocket size and with the reduced aim correction for squirt my margin for the pocket seems larger.

Yea I'm wanting to get OB classic I've been told there great nice stiff hit good feel

Why on earth would you think a shaft makes balls for you, or improves your skill level?

The shaft only changes where you have to aim. It doesn't improve your consistency.
I've seen lots of guys blame the stick when they lose, but somehow it's even
worse to see a guy giving the stick credit for his good shooting.

Misty water color memories - it has been some time back but walked back into our home bar to watch the remainder of a match of the other team there.

Watched a guy miss, look down his shaft, switch it for a different shaft and on his next turn pocketed a ball and said "at least this one can make a ball".

No offense intended but in order to "make twice as many balls", you should be playing twice as many games IMHO.

Consistency is the key. With a smaller margin/amount of anything, you're more consistent initially.

LD vs non-LD will different but likely someone that doesn't like a LD shaft, pretty good chance that they have developed their consistency thru repetition and experience success with it.
