League night

No Banger
So I had a tuff match tonight. I knew it would be tough cause the other guy had a real nice cue and a extra cue just for breaking and all I have is the cue I got for Christmas , not sure what it's called cause the name rubbed off but it works for me anyway. The guy was all mad that he lost but I told him not to take it so hard cause I'm getting pretty good next he'll probably lose worse but it didn't seem to make him feel better.

Oh well. Can't wait till next week. Got some new patches to put on my case tonight. That will be cool.

APA magic

Nice win.Good luck next week. What is your apa rank? What was the race? How many patches did you win and what were they for?

I was a 2 but now I'm a 3 after only 1 month so I'm moving up fast. The only patch I have so far is a APA patch I got for joining the league but I'm sure its the first of many !

APA league

Everyone starts as a 2 if they are new to the league.I have not played apa for quite awhile so not 100%.Somebody on this forum knows the starting handicap for the APA.Everyone has to start somewhere.Anyone?

Sounds like you got to play Travis Trotters dad. Don't worry he's used to getting beat like a drum. His kid spanks him like a redheaded stepdad.

I started a 4 but they made me a 2 after the first week. I think they didn't know I didn't have my cue cause the tip broke off so I lost. But I was closer to the 8 ball than the other guy most of the games so it was still reaaly close.

Don't worry..that "I'm pretty good" arrogance will humble you soon enough.

Pool is a game that looks simple and then one day you find someone who can shoot and you realize how little you know.

Intimidation

Never , ever, at any time be intimidated because someone has a custom cue, break cue or special equipment...it simply does not matter. Most pro's could beat me with a broomstick.

Good luck on your next match , It's funny since I've been in the APA I 've been a 4 and a 5 and it fun , but I get sick of playing the same teams all the time .

The APA LO in this area does not allow any male S/L 2's. Also if you add a player and you know that the player will end up being a S/L 6 you better start him off as a 5. The LO has severe penalties for this kind of sandbagging up to and including the entire team being removed from the league.

A friend of mine join a team several years ago and he had never played in the APA but certainly would have been a good S/L 6. Well the team captain knew this but insisted that the new player sandbag and lose the first couple of weeks before starting to win with ease at S/L 3. It took the LO several weeks to catch up with this and when he did the penalty was the team captain was suspended from the APA for 2 years, forfeiture of all points the player had won and the player was raised to and LOCKED at a S/L 7 for life.

There is very little sandbagging in this area, although there are many players that manage to stay 1 level below what they should be. Still not too bad for the 200+ teams in the area.

Very true. Anyone can buy a cue, but nobody can buy a game...that has to be earned!

Actually, All males start at a SL 4 for APA 8 ball while the ladies start as a SL 3. this taken from the APA Team Manual.

http://www.poolplayers.com/tmanual.pdf It's on page 53-54 of the online PDF.
