Asking a question and need your help. Do you prefer APA, BCA, or local league. I’m sure I’m leaving some out. I need input form proprietors and patrons please.

Honestly, I've found that most leagues are pretty much the same.
The difference is the league operator.

The league operator is going to dictate a lot about your experience.

I found that I preferred the BCA atmosphere and level of competition/seriousness to be far greater than my (admittedly single session) experience with APA.

I also never got comfortable with the scoring system for APA 9ball.

I don’t know how much that helps, each area and league is going to be an experience unique to itself.

Go try some, I’ve made some good friends and improved my game by playing.

Good luck to ya.

I assume you are asking this question in order to increase your clientele. I have played at your place a few times during the tri cups that were held there. It is my understanding that you already have one apa division playing at your place but I have no idea if it is travel or in house . I also heard that a junior division was started at your place and I have no idea how it is doing but as far as I know its the only junior division in town. I have thought about bringing my grandson over to play in it but I play in every weekend tournament I can and traffic is a real pain getting from my house to your place down Goodman road.

Apa has pretty much got our area locked up. A few years ago a friend started a Napa league ....it only lasted a year and a half. Another guy started a tap league and it only lasted one session. There is currently a friend hosting a usapl league and is in his 3 rd session now but he is having trouble getting players.

I thought about starting a bcapl league a few years ago and when I talked t a bunch of players I knew they all wanted nothing to do with it so i never tried.

Do you give incentives for league players ? Some establishments pay half the team fees. Other establishments give free table time.

Tracy at hi pockets is very progress in doing things to attract leagues and their players. He was the first one to offer free practice time for league players. He opened the tables at 5:30. You practiced free till league started at 7:30 when he locked the tables. After your team finished their matches he would unlock the tables and you could practice till closing time. He then decided to keep the tables open all the time and just charge each team a green fee of 5:00.

Sharpshooters has changed to open tables and a 5:00 green fee also. Also...any team that uses sharpshooters as their home base and qualifies for nationals sharpshooters will match the the travel fund for nationals.

Other venues dont do what these 2 do but one does pay half the team fees I believe. At least he did for the team I was on that played out of his place.

Like I said...apa has got this area locked up and the new lo seems to be pretty aggressive about expanding it even more. Maybe you could talk to him .. I talked to him about the possibility of starting a division in olive branch and he is all for it but the only place there with tables leaves a whole lot to be desired. Their tables are crap and no where for teams to sit.

I like APA better than the TAP league I tried, but they were similar overall. I've never been in an area where BCA is an option, so hard to say.

But if a league really wants to grow, it should join the current decade and build a good iOS/Android app for scorekeeping.

For me APA and TAP are interchangeable. Neither one is a league I would recommend. The two leagues I enjoyed the most were the BCA and ACS. Of the two ACS is my favorite league. The handicap system is the best period and you get to play more matches per night.
