Not exactly in the same situation, but allow me to offer some friendly advice....

Unfortunately, it sounds like you have too many people....if you could play 5 every nite, then a 2 person bench should be enough....with 7, basically everyone gets to play 2 out of 3 matches, and make it understood early...also, as you get closer to play-off's, weaker players should be willing to sit for the team more often, and you need to set that expectation up front as well....

We have 8 on our APA that I captain, which is basically 1 too many as it turns out.....ultimately, too many people have to sit, and some lose interest....

As far as the other players complaining, anybody can be an armchair quarterback....they weren't complaining when you were 8-3, and carrying that record while being able to keep 9 people playing and happy - that's a pretty good job IMHO....

I understand what you are saying, and I just didn't want to make anyone mad. I guess I am going to have to give into the better players and make them happy, but the week players will get mad and probably stop showing up. It sucks cause we might need them one night.

Last night we should have won, and we could have if I would have scheduled it a bit different. My week players lost the first 4 doubles games which is really odd cause I thought we would split those. Normally those players do better than that, but for some reason last night didn't perform to their abilities. We all have those nights though.

Thanks for the advice.

Let's go back to the beginning....

What were your original agreements?
Who/how many were the original core people that you talked to who agreed to be regular players on the team?
Who/how many were the original people that you talked to who agreed to be subs on your team?

I have thought about that too, and I have been thinking that I would tell the subs if they want to play every week that the owner of the bar has a team that is needing players. They don't have enough to fill their roster every week. So that would allow them to play every week if they wanted to play. They wouldn't be on my team anymore, but at least they would get to play every week.

Obviously you get the point that the questions were meant to evoke.

But actually answering the questions with solid numbers will clarify matters. Especially true, if you're looking for assistance on this board from people who know very few of the details.
