leather case cleaning

I don't know if everyone remembers that tub of CM I wrote about.
Well......it worked, saturated and penitratrated that old dried out case like nothing I've ever seen.

Two weeks later an odor developed that was most disheartening.
God Awful.
I thought everyone should know.

Which is the best cleaner for a leather case?saddle soap, mink oil, etc.
I would be interested in a top quality polish to make it shiny like new after it is all clean and conditioned, Something for the final polishing? Not many cleaners or conditioners leave a highly glossy finish like the original factory new look. Most of them are not actual polishes. They are generally multi purpose products. Kind of a one size fits all thing. I have found some shoe polish's work quite well, but I doubt they are at the top of the line.

No shit? I have used a few products with decent results. I figured There were some fantastic products out there that I simply was not aware of. I'll see if I can find some promising products and share my thoughts and opinions once I've had a chance to try them out.
It really is hard to find just a polish that assumes you don't need all sorts of other waxes or oils or conditioners. Just a high glossy finish. I will let you know when and if I find such a thing.

I think a case cleaner varies, depending on the casemaker. John Barton did a very good video where he used Lexol to clean and polish a case, did a very nice job. It was pretty light color. Having a Justis case, I asked him what was the best method of occasional cleaning. He said no creams, no polishes, no water. Just the right color paste shoe polish. So, It may vary, depending on the leather, method of tanning, and dye.

I have used a rather inexpensive shoe polish for years with very impressive results. I have Bic4 from my day's of wearing some nice leather boots. I think I'll be okay with what I know. I was expecting a Long list of preferred products actually.
