So far, I've found leather cord avalable in these sizes: 1.5 mm, 1.8mm, 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm.

What size is preferred for stack leather wraps?

Thanks!

Stack leather wrap is not a cord but rather a flat strip. It is wider than it is thick.

I see. I've used leather cord on three cues, and after installing it sanded it down and finished it. Seemed to work alright.

Guess I'll have to contact Atlas for the stuff.

Thanks.

1.5mm is around 59-60 thou thick......you definately have to sand and work it after the install unless you plan on carving a canyon for the wrap groove.

Is it a "natural" hide or already dyed?

I don't have it yet. I can get it in "natural" or many colors, from this guy on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com/Leathercordonline

Perhaps 1mm would be better?

Why not buy from Tiger direct? It will be cheaper and better quality in the long run.

Tiger won't sell to an individual. They only wholesale to dealers/distributors, and as I'm not a cuemaker/repairman, or whatever, I'd need to go to one of their distributors, such as Atlas.

I've decided to just leave the cue as is. Don't want to cover up the beautiful cocobolo.

Also, Cory told me that stack wrap is flat, not round, which explains why the look of the stack leather wrapped cues is different from the ones I did some time ago using the round cord.

Cory told me also that Atlas can get any of their stack wraps on special order. In the future, if I have a cue and want to put a stack wrap on it, I'll get the leather from Atlas.

Thanks for the question.

Edit: changed my mind about getting it from Atlas, at least for now. Please see my next post.

Well, I did a little search on the web for flat leather lacing, and found a website in Georgia that offers some pretty good stuff.

Here it is:

http://www.leathercordusa.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=LCU&Category_Code=C10

And their prices are very reasonable. A 10 meter spool of 3mm Superior Belting Lace, in a variety of colors, including natural, is only $6.79 plus shipping, for instance. Orders of $50 or more are shipped free. They even have deerskin lace, cool website!

I ordered a spool of the tan lace, just to have on hand, as it'll probably be going on one of my cues soon!

What is 3mm? width or thickness? You do realize that 3mm is about an 1/8 inch.

3mm is the width. Thickness is supposed to be 2mm. I'll find out pretty soon. If the stuff won't work for a wrap, I can always use it for my boots. :D

Wrap thickness:

Irish Linen......... .023 - .025

Leather, flat...... .025 - .030

Cork, flat.......... .025 - .030

1 inch = 25.39mm
1mm = .039 in
2mm = .078
