Leather "rope" wrap ?

One of the locals told me he once saw a cue with a wrap made of leather but not a single piece wrapped around the butt, and not made of stacked rings I've seen displayed by several cuemakers here, but of sort of a rope or a thread... So that it is not flat with the butt but is "grippy" for the palm.

Could anyone post a picture, and have you ever heard of such technique at all?

I've only seen a couple of wraps made of stacked rings. More common is the "stack wrap" from Tiger Products. It is made of one long strand of leather wound around the cue like a linen wrap.
RAT's stack wraps

i made a couple

last year i made a couple one piece butts and used the 2 mm round leather cord for wraps. its like a cross between leather and linen wrap. you have the leather feel but not as smooth as linen, you can find photos in the for sale section, under chuck starkey

thanks, will check that out. It must have been cord wrap, or sort of, because the guy said the wrap was not flush with cue butt (unlike those usually made, e.g. by RAT)
