Unfortunately, I am using a Unique Products, Cue companion Lathe and have no way to cut the channelDepends on how thick the leather was, or how deep the channel is now. Most linen is about .025" thick, compared to leather that can be .030" and thicker. I have used 5 minute epoxy to coat the whole channel and then re-cut the channel to the proper depth, and have had to use wood veneer applied like a leather wrap, then sand to the proper depth....it really depends.
Oh boy!Unfortunately, I am using a Unique Products, Cue companion Lathe and have no way to cut the channel
That’s actually a pretty good idea…. I think I’ll give it a try….. I’ll let everyone know FridayJust thinking outside the box here. Could you use some copy paper, 28lb= .004-.005, or 32 lb = .006-.007 first and just glue that down first with something like elmers or titebond? You could even use a heavier weight if needed. I may be all wet on this, just trying to help.
In my opinion it depends. A few thousand sure. Any medium build up ill use junk veneers. Anything really big ill fill with epoxy and recut the channel. Can't you just wrap some masking tape to make the channel a little thicker?
You haven't said how much you need to build it up yetThat’s actually a pretty good idea…. I think I’ll give it a try….. I’ll let everyone know Friday
I'll measure it tonightYou haven't said how much you need to build it up yet

RespectfullyHave you considered double wrapping with linen?
BtwRespectfully
I know people are doing it but it's a hack move and doesn't solve the problem.
