Leather Wrap Damage

Just curious if anyone knows a way to "save" a leather wrap.

I use rubbing alcohol to clean my shaft and had in the past also used it on the butt end to clean off the wrap. I had a leather wrap put on and without thinking used the alcohol to clean the wrap. At first I thought it was removing dirt… After a couple times I noticed that it was actually removing a finish on the wrap. Now the leather is a grainy and very slick.

I actually prefer the “tacky” feel of a wrap. I am wondering if there is a product that I can apply that will help smooth the leather out and also bring back the “tacky” feel.

Or am I doomed to getting a new wrap.

Spray some pledge on a soft paper towel, wipe it down & then buff it, with a fresh paper towel. It will clean it, shine it & leave it with that tackey feel that you like...JER

If you have the ability to spin the butt, bees wax also should give you the result you are looking for. Just put a small even amount on and then buff with a clean cloth.

Aside from what is already mentioned, if you need to restore color you might try a matching paste shoe polish (like Meltonian).
