Leather Wrap machine?

I saw that machine as well as the one from Unique products. They both work well from what I saw.

Do you have any links or other info on the Unique Inc. Leather machine?
This is the first i've heard of it.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Hi Jon
I didn't see it on their site but I did see it at the Expo. So you would have to email them for Pictures. They should be back from the BCA next week.

I'm not sure why you need a special jig but I have seen them both and they seem well made. The unique seems a little simpler.
Sure you do, you just don't want to say it.
Great to meet you and your wife at the Expo.

Angelo's jig is great. The thing that makes it a little easier than doing it all on a lathe is that you can easily double cut your leather seam instead of cutting through both pieces at once. The other is his template that makes the end fit really nice. As far as I am concerned Angelo's is the original and the best.

Do you sell them? I'd like to see a picture of one.

Angelos jig locks the cue in place from underneath. The unique jig holds the cue up against the straight edge with spring tension, And is a little lighter built. Both are the same price. I bought the deangelo jig because the cue is wedged in place. I bounced the cue with my elbow on the unique jig and was able to move the cue slightly. Just my 2 cents.

If it is a "template", which is the impression I got from the pictures. Does that mean it is a "cookie-cutter", or in other words your wrap channel must be a specific length, diameter and taper? Or is it fully compatible with each cuemakers individual style?

I saw it yesterday in Vegas. It looked very well made. The nice thing about the Unique is the cue rests on spring-loaded plastic rest and is locked from the top (fully-adjustable) . Makes cutting pretty simple.
A little pricey at $400 plust $79.99 for the template.

A little costly is correct.
You think he built a cue. Please tell me the template for $79.99 is not the template for cutting wraps out of skins.

The template for cutting the top and bottom of the leather wrap before gluing to the cue. It has alingning holes/guide so you don't cut the leather cockeyed.
Unique's other product aren't cheap but they are all very well designed and well made.

This one seems like a better deal and looks about the same from what I can see.

wrap jigs

Bought my DeAngelo just after Louiville Open little over a year ago. Thought it was a little high priced. It's not. First off it is universal in that it fits cues of all flavors. The machine is extremely well engineered and really works. Don't know how I ever did without it. Now that I've seen alternative machines would I buy DeAngelo again...in a heart beat.

To my knowledge DeAngelo was the first out. Original engeneering takes time. Time costs money. Now with over a year to learn, the price was very reasonable. Thanks Angelo.

For those who wonder, this was a non-paid commercial announcement.

Has anyone had a problem with the leather moving as you cut it.
I would assume the jig should hold the leather down tightly so it cant move but have had some problems near the ends and have had to do some freehand triming.
