leather wrap problem

The black dye from my leather wrap is rubbing off on my rail and leaving a black smudge. Is there a cure? Can the leather be sealed somehow? Thanks for your thoughts...
 
I can't imagine why your wrap would be on the rail, but are you sure it's dye, or maybe polish? Try cleaning the leather with a good cleaner, then recondition.
 
The wrap is on the rail because sometimes I drop my arm when I shoot. I know I should not do this but it sometimes happens.
 
Provided it is dye and not black paste wax you can seal it with clear liquid shoe polish or spray it with saddle lac.

Not to hijack your thread, but if you are concerned about it -
FWIW - if you "drop" your arm at the elbow, that is not a problem. Most all of the great
Straight Pool players did it on just about every 'break' shot.
