Leather Wrap Slightly Proud

Coos Cues
I put a black textured leather wrap on one of my cues and underestimated the needed depth of the groove when I cut it so the wrap ended up a little high on the ends. Is there anything to do about this besides starting over without damaging the finish? It looks really good other than that so I'm hoping for a tested fix. It's probably 4-5 thousandths high. It's my own cue so I have some leeway.
Thanks,

JC

A bearing mounted in the tool post of your lathe can be turned at a slight angle and run against it until it presses it down.
